When the conflict grew most dire. Athena Pierce didn't leap into glory on the front lines. Her heart was with Henesys. Even a small village like that could not escape the ravages of war, but she knew that no great armies or famous adventurers would came to its aid. And so she took that duty upon herself, putting her all into defending Henesys and its people. Athena formed her strategy around her intimate knowledge of the woodlands. She would harry any enemy who tried to approach the forest from the cover of the canopy. If an enemy force dared set foot within, she would track and ambush them before they could reach the village. And through it all, she worked alone: never once did she ask the villagers to risk themselves on her behalf.

When not occupied with defending the village, she committed herself to guiding efugees to safety and safeguarding the injured. She would regularly patrol the forest to find the lost and bring them home. When food was scarce, she traveled all over Victoria Island to procure the supplies they dearly lacked. This efforts were often taken at great personal risk, and she was seriously injured more than once. But even at her worst, she could be seen carrying young children on her back or helping elders through the tangled underbrush.

After the war ended, Athena Pierce worked hard to rebuild the ruined Henesys. She establishes the Bowman Instructional School to train a new generation of defenders. Athena Pierce's school passed on not only archery skills, but her philosophy of protecting the vulnerable to future generations.
