Aran is a Hero Warrior released during the v.80: Aran Update.

Aran sealed in ice

Aran is one of the six Heroes who sealed away the Black Mage and is the sole Warrior of the group. Awakening centuries later in Rien, Aran finds herself without her memories or her power. With the help of Lilin, Aran struggles to regain her former glory as she faces the Black Wings, who hope to steal the Seal Stones hidden around the world by the Heroes in order to revive the Black Mage.

Story

Main article: Aran/Story

Aran was one of the six Heroes who united together to face the Black Mage centuries ago. With a powerful polearm named Maha, Aran fought at the Temple of Time with her friends in the battle against the Black Mage. Following the Black Mage's sealing, Aran was cursed and sealed away in ice. Because she had been severely wounded from holding off the Black Mage's army single-handedly, Aran's weakened mental state was even more susceptible to the curse's shock, resulting in her memories being lost.

Centuries later, Aran awoke in Rien and was found by Lilin, who was overjoyed to see the lost hero return, just as her clan had prophesized long ago. As Aran had lost all her memories and power, Lilin promised to help her as she fulfilled her destiny to defeat the Black Mage once and for all. After training on Rien, Aran was sent to Lith Harbor, where she met with Tru, a member of the Rien Clan who had left the island long ago. As an information broker, Tru agreed to help Aran regain her strength and learn about Maple World while undergoing missions to gather intelligence for him. Aran was sent to investigate the strange behavior of the monsters around Victoria Island, which seemingly had gone berserk out of nowhere.

Soon after, Aran learned that a strange boy - Francis - had been sighted around Victoria Island, and that he was likely the cause for the sudden appearance of puppets that were influencing the monsters. Aran discovered his hideout and learned that he was affiliated with the Black Wings. After defeating him, she learned that he had been tasked with recovering the Seal Stone of Victoria Island. In order to get revenge on Aran for defeating him, Francis asked Baroq the Master of Disguise to lure her back to Tru's shop by disguising himself as Tru. After she defeated Francis again, the real Tru revealed that he had managed to find the Seal Stone of Victoria Island with the help of Phantom, who had also been freed from the ice.

Some time later, Aran followed rumors of strange activity in Orbis and learned that the Black Wings were planning to take the Seal Stone of Orbis. Despite Aran's best efforts, however, she was unable to stop the Black Wings - aided by Orchid herself - from taking the Seal Stone. Aran soon followed leads on the Black Wings to Mu Lung and learned that the Shadow Knight of the Black Wings was planning to take the Seal Stone of Mu Lung. Aran attempted to stop the Shadow Knight in the Sealed Temple, though Hiver managed to take the Seal Stone first. Nevertheless, Aran learned from Mu Gong that the Seal Stones had been left behind by the Heroes centuries ago, and that no one knew what their purpose was.

Soon after, Aran followed leads on a crack in time appearing in Ludibrium, which led to Ellin Forest from centuries ago. There, Aran met with Athena Pierce in Altaire Camp and attempted to obtain the Seal Stone of Ellin Forest, though Hiver traveled back into the past and grabbed it first. Athena then attempted to give Aran an important letter that the Heroes had given to her, but as Aran could not take objects into the future, Athena asked Aran to find her in the future, as elves lived for centuries.In the present, Aran found Hiver attacking Athena and reading the letter. After Aran defeated Baroq, Athena gave her the letter, which Lilin decoded. Lilin learned that the letter had been written by the Heroes to the Empress of their time, asking her to protect the Seal Stone of Ereve. Knowing that the Black Wings knew about the Seal Stone of Ereve's existence, Aran warned Neinheart about a possible attack. Meanwhile, Baroq attempted to steal the Seal Stone of Ereve, though Aran's timely warning allowed the Cygnus Knights to stop him.

Soon after, Aran learned that the Black Wings were attacking Rien in order to take the Seal Stone of Victoria Island. There, she faced off against Orchid and her forces. Before Orchid could fight Aran personally, she quickly sensed Phantom's arrival and decided to retreat, believing that she couldn't handle two Heroes with her powers weakened without Lotus. With the island under risk from another attack, Lilin decided to sent the Seal Stone of Victoria Island to Athena Pierce for safekeeping. Some time later, Aran was invited to join the Maple Alliance in order to fight against the Black Mage and his Commanders. As the Alliance continued to do battle with the Black Mage's forces, Aran reunited with the other Heroes in order to face off against Damien and his demon army. Together, the Heroes retraced Freud's footsteps in order to locate the Abyss Crystal on Friends World. After Damien stole the crystal and used it to take Alicia's powers, Aran and the other Heroes fought and defeated him, restoring Maple World's vitality back to the land.

Trivia

• Before the MapleStory: Heroes of Maple update, Aran's attacks were activated using combinations of arrow keys and the basic attack key. Aran's way of fighting revolved around building up the Combo system, which displayed a number that increased when the player hit enemies and decreased when the player stopped attacking or used certain skills. Other skills with cooldowns instantly increased Combo Count or nullified Combo consumption. Some skills could be used with key command or hotkey options, the latter of which dealt more damage and consumed Combo.
