Xenon is a Resistance Thief and Pirate released during the MapleStory: Unleashed[6] Update.

Many years ago, a young boy was kidnapped by Gelimer and transformed into a cyborg named Xenon, created to be the ultimate weapon. However, when Xenon's childhood friends - the leaders of the Resistance - break into Gelimer's laboratory, Xenon's residual memories cause him to go against his programming and escape from Gelimer. With only fragments of memory inside his mind, Xenon goes on a mission to learn the truth about his past, while being pursued by his fellow Xenoroid, Beryl, who has been charged by their father to bring him back.

Story

Main article: Xenon/Story

Many years ago, Gelimer began conducting unethical experiments to evolve humanity by removing the concept of emotion. In order to do this, he kidnapped a young boy from Edelstein and turned him into a cyborg named Xenon. Along with another girl named Beryl, Gelimer conditioned and trained his test subjects in order to become perfect beings, devoid of emotion and operating purely on logic. Over the years, Xenon had his memory wiped as he trained to become Gelimer's ultimate Xenoroid weapon.

One day, the Resistance discovered Gelimer's secret laboratory, which he kept secret from Orchid, as his ultimate intention was to turn Lotus into a Xenoroid under his sole control. After Claudine was captured, Xenon recognized her from remnants of his old childhood memories. In order to learn more about his past, Xenon chose to betray Gelimer and helped Claudine escape with the help of his friend, Roo-D, a rabbit-fox Xenoroid. At the Resistance headquarters, Xenon removed his control circuit to avoid being controlled by Gelimer, though this severely drained his energy and weakened him. The Resistance leaders were surprised to know that Xenon knew nothing about the Black Wings, despite Gelimer conducting his research for them. Belle, Elex, and Brighton were also surprised to find that Xenon was their childhood friend who had gone missing many years ago, though Xenon had nothing except vestigial memories of his past.

Beryl was soon dispatched by Gelimer in order to get Xenon back by following his Pulse, which all active Xenoroids emitted like a heartbeat. Weakened from her earlier battle with Xenon at Gelimer's secret lab, Beryl was defeated by a similarly-weakened Xenon and forced to retreat. Believing that staying in Edelstein would put the Resistance at risk, Xenon decided to leave town. Though he fled to Henesys - and even left Maple World by heading for Pantheon - Beryl continued tracking him with his Pulse. Soon after, Xenon was contacted by Veritas - a secret Resistance research command in Aqua Road - where he agreed to help the scientists there in exchange for them helping him mask his Pulse. With the help of Veritas, Xenon installed Pulse Disruptors across Maple World in order to prevent Beryl from tracking him, thus allowing him to reunite with his friends in Edelstein.

Soon after, Xenon learned that Gelimer had secretly asked Dargoth and Francis to capture him without letting Orchid know, though Francis - who was infatuated with Orchid - had reservations about his orders. After Xenon defeated Dargoth and forced him to retreat, he convinced Francis to lie to Gelimer and say that he had failed to capture Xenon. Hoping to get answers about his memories, Xenon and Roo-D soon traveled to the abandoned laboratory where Gelimer had secretly performed his Xenoroid experiments. However, Xenon learned that Gelimer had erased nearly all the data within his computers, with Roo-D piecing together the fragments to learn that Gelimer - unable to fully erase all of his Xenoroids' memories - had instead overwritten those memories his soldier programming, making it impossible for them to be ever recovered.

Soon after, Xenon was asked by the researchers of Veritas to travel to Magatia in order to learn whether Gelimer had utilized alchemy in his Xenoroid project. During his investigation, he learned that Orchid and Gelimer had both been working against each other to get their hands on the alchemy research of the Black Mage. Beryl soon discovered Xenon in Magatia while being dispatched by Gelimer to obtain the Black Mage's research. After being defeated once again, Beryl expressed her hatred towards Xenon over the fact that Gelimer still favored him, despite the fact that Xenon was a ‘defect' because of his emotions. After she retreated, however, Xenon noted that Beryl also seemed to have emotions, despite her belief that she didn't.

Some time later, Beryl lured Xenon back to Gelimer's abandoned laboratory for a final confrontation. After being defeated, Beryl admitted defeat and resigned herself to be dismantled for her failure. Though Xenon pleaded with her to come back with him, Beryl told him that she had no choice but to follow her protocols. Though she wondered whether their fates would have been different had they been human, Beryl ultimately decided that it would have been the same, as fighting was what siblings did best. Though Xenon begged Beryl not to go, Beryl merely turned and walked away, with a sad smile and a single tear in her eyes.
