Adele, short for Adelaide, is a Flora Warrior released during the MapleStory: RISE Update.

Centuries ago, Adele was a loyal Knight of the Einherjar - the royal guard of the God-King. During a coup to overthrow the God-King, Adele was sealed away in the Void for the crime of betraying her liege. In the present day, Adele is mysteriously freed from the Void in order to serve a new liege, a young man named Jerome who hopes to free his people from the vain Count Cedric. With all her memories erased from her time in the Void, Adele hopes to learn the truth behind what happened with the God-King and her supposed betrayal.

Story

Centuries ago, the God-King of the High Flora underwent a shocking transformation, turning him from a kind man into a belligerent tyrant. As the God-King's madness grew worse, he planned to incite a war of genocide against the other races of Grandis. His ambitions created dissent within the ranks of his royal guard, the Knights of the Einherjar. When the God-King's most loyal knight, Adelaide, refused to follow him into battle, many in the Knights began rallying around Adelaide in resistance to the God-King. For this reason, the God-King imprisoned Adelaide in order to stop the rebellion from growing around her, though this delayed his war from happening. Soon after, many Knights of the Einherjar planned to revolt against the God-King before his delayed war of genocide could take place. Under the orders of Darmoor, Veronica - Adelaide's rival - freed Adelaide from her prison in order to recruit her to their side. However, Adelaide - despite disagreeing with the God-King's plan - refused to betray her oath to protect him, for which she rallied those loyal to the God-King against the defectors. Eventually, Adelaide's faction was defeated and Adelaide was sealed away in a prison dimension called the Void.

After Adelaide was sealed in the Void by Veronica during the coup to overthrow the God-King, she spent centuries imprisoned, gradually losing all her memories. Eventually, she heard the voice calling out for help, which freed her from her prison and allowed her to manifest on the moon of Ristonia before a boy named Jerome, who was being chased by the royal guards. Without her memories, Adelaide - named Adele for short by Jerome - reluctantly agreed to help the young man, who was planning an uprising against the greedy Count Cedric. As the pair continued working together, they developed a mutual respect for each other. Adele slowly also began regaining more of her memories after coming into contact with objects from her past, allowing her to recall that she had once been part of the Knights of the Einherjar - the royal guard of the God-King.

During their mission to stop Cedric, Adele encountered Veronica, who amusedly told Adele to face her once she regained her old power and memories. Soon after, Adele began feeling the pull of the Void threatening to imprison her once again, though Jerome helped Adele overcome her feelings of despair. Adele and Jerome soon learned that Cedric was planning to find a key that could awaken an Ancient God who slumbered beneath Ristonia, despite a prophecy that foretold Ristonia's doom once that god awakened. Adele also learned that Jerome was the last prince of Ristonia, and that he was fighting to retake his throne from Cedric in order to free the kingdom from his selfish reign.

After Jerome was captured by Cedric, Adele regained more of her memories that let her remember the opening battle of the Flora Civil War, as well as a mysterious voice which had freed her from the Void, urging her to save her new liege. Vowing not to fail Jerome after failing to protect her old liege, Adele rushed after him and managed to defeat Cedric's forces before taking the key that Cedric had hoped to give to the High Flora. After defeating Cedric, the uprising managed to overthrow him and take back the city. With Cedric having lost his throne and the key, Veronica ordered him to be taken away. Jerome then decided to go on a mission to hide the key and grow strong enough to become a good king. Meanwhile, Adele traveled to Maple World in order to recover her lost memories.

During her time in Maple World, Adele encountered several heroes of Grandis, such as Angelic Buster, who warned her that she would need to take a side in the upcoming conflict against Darmoor, who had succeeded her old liege as the new God-King. As she recovered her memories, she also recalled being deemed a traitor to the God-King, causing her to have doubts over whether she had really kept her oath to her king. While recovering her old memories, Adele met with Illium and learned that the former God-King had once been a man of excellent character before he had turned into a tyrant, leading a campaign of domination against the other races. This triggered one of Adele's latent memories, in which she recalled the God-King giving a speech that denounced the other races as ‘savages'. Illium revealed that though the Verdant Flora had been accused of killing the God-King, the true culprit was unknown, though he suspected that Darmoor was involved somehow, as none of the records added up with each other. However, Adele's memories confirmed to Illium that the attack on the God-King's palace had been an internal conflict between the High Flora. Adele's journey would soon lead her to meet with several other heroes of Grandis, such as Cadena, Ark, and Kaiser. While recovering her memories, Adele learned that she had been imprisoned for betraying the God-King, and that she had refused to follow him into battle. However, she also learned that she had rushed to defend the God-King from Veronica and her faction, which made her realize that she hadn't betrayed the God-King until the very end, despite the fact that she had been imprisoned for it.

After attaining her old strength, Adele was lured to Ristonia by Veronica, who reminded Adele that she had promised that they would meet again once Adele regained her memories. Veronica attempted to seal Adele back into the Void, where she felt the magic that had carved her soul into a hundred and seven pieces. She was then confronted by a phantom of herself, the 108th sliver, which attempted to keep her trapped inside. As her memories began slipping, the pendant that Jerome had given her fell to the floor. Upon seeing it, she was reminded of her oath to her liege, which triggered another memory that revealed that Veronica was the one who had led the revolt against the God-King, causing her to realize that she had never betrayed her oath until the very end. Adele then broke free from the Void and confronted Veronica, who declared that their business was over before retreating. Having learned the full truth, Adele vowed to fulfill her oath to her new liege and protect the innocent from harm.
