Kinesis is a Friends World Magician released during the MapleStory: Reboot Update.

Originating from the separate world of Friends World, he employs the power of psychokinesis (the ability to move physical objects with the power of the mind), rather than utilizing magic. The damage he deals to foes consequentially is actually physical damage, despite using INT and Magic Attack.

A high-school student in Seoul, Kinesis unexpectedly developed psychokinetic powers after the White Mage of Friends World breached a hole between Friends World and Maple World during the events of FriendStory. With the help of his friends, Jay and Yuna, Kinesis becomes a superhero and uses his powers to save people. Hoping to use Kinesis as a catalyst to accelerate the fusion of their two worlds, the White Mage creates a massive sinkhole that begins causing their world to be absorbed by Maple World. Awakening in Maple World, Kinesis is aided by Grendel the Really Old and the Magician Association in mastering his strange powers and closing the sinkhole that threatens to consume his world.

Story

Because of Maple World's magic entering Friends World, a high-school boy from Seoul gained the power of psychokinesis. With his hacker friend, Jay, and his girlfriend, Yuna, the boy took on the name of Kinesis and decided to become a superhero. Jay soon learned that a man anonymously known as WM had been posting online about the appearances of monsters called Motes throughout Seoul, almost like a prophet. While fighting the monsters at his school, the School for the Gifted, Kinesis began losing control of his powers. After passing out, he awoke to find a black cat, which he named Nero.

Soon after, Kinesis began fighting Motes and Troublemakers aboard a subway, where he was confronted by the White Mage of Friends World. The White Mage revealed that Kinesis was the first of their world to have gained powers from the other, and that he planned to use Kinesis as a catalyst. He then used his own mysterious powers to create a sinkhole around Kinesis, which began dragging in large parts of the city. Kinesis then awoke at the Magician Association headquarters in Maple World, where he learned that Nero the black cat was actually a girl who had been sent to monitor Kinesis' city. There, Grendel the Really Old revealed that Kinesis' world was being absorbed by Maple World, though the sinkhole had stopped after Kinesis had been pulled out by the magicians of the association.

As Kinesis' abilities were rare, even in Maple World, Kinesis began training in order to master them, as well as to rescue the people of Seoul who had been pulled into Maple World. As Kinesis sent the missing people back to Friends World, the White Mage noted that though Kinesis' abilities were growing faster than expected, he could no longer wait. For this reason, he sent a Troublemaker to kidnap Yuna. Soon after, a tornado storm activated the sinkhole once again, causing Friends World to slowly begin merging with Maple World. After Kinesis stabilized the dimensional collapse, he traveled to the sinkhole and found that Yuna was the new catalyst of the sinkhole, with the tornado revolving around her.

There, he confronted the White Mage, who revealed that he had been reincarnating across lifetimes in order to break down barriers for a great purpose. He revealed that he had kidnapped Yuna in order to continue merging their worlds, as well as to draw Kinesis back to Friends World, adding that it had all been a test to see whether Kinesis had the strength to stand at the final stage of another world. The White Mage explained that others would gain powers like Kinesis, and that not all of the would be heroes. He then disappeared, leaving behind a Master Omen, identical to the ones created by the Black Mage of Maple World. After Kinesis defeated it and calmed the sinkhole, he rescued Yuna and brought her back to the Magician Association, where they learned that she now had the power to control the wind. With more people expected to gain powers soon, Kinesis decided that he would create his own version of the Magician Association in order to help them learn how to control their powers for good, which would prove the White Mage wrong.

• Kinesis is the first class to have animated artwork in the character creation UI.

• His leitmotif/theme BGM is Kinesis Theme I.
• Completing A Pale Threat, which teleports the player near Ellinia, is required to access areas outside of Friends World.
• Before the Crown Update, Kinesis was one of two Magicians that didn't use MP (the other being Kanna), instead using Psychic Points.
