Story
- Main article: Kanna/Story
In the Sengoku era of the world of Sokoku, the Great Diviner, Abeno Seimei, had a premonition that a being would appear in the nation of Hinomaru with the power of the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, threatening the entire realm. However, Abeno Seimei also had a premonition that five skilled heroes would rise to oppose Oda. These heroes were the Children of the Five Stars, each bearing a mark somewhere on their bodies that showed proof of their heavenly vessels. Centuries later, a warlord named Oda Nobunaga appeared and planned to become the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. With an overwhelming military force, Hinomaru was quickly seized into hegemony. For the Demon King Ritual, Oda required a special sacrifice. Princess Sakuno was the first daughter of the Matsuyama clan and held an immense font of mana within her body. On Oda's orders, Sakuno was kidnapped and the Matsuyama clan was wiped out. Oda then brought Sakuno and his army to Honnou-ji, where he planned to perform the ritual that would grant him immortality and untold power. Hoping to stop him, a united military force of Daimyos, composed of the great lords Mouri Motonari, Uesugi Kenshin, and Takeda Shingen, formed an alliance called the Sengoku Warriors and led their armies to Honnou-ji Temple in order to put an end to Oda's ambitions. Kanna was the apprentice of the great Spirit Walker Tsuchimikado Haruaki, with whom she joined forces with Kenshin in order to stop Oda Nobunaga.
At Honnou-ji, Kanna infiltrated the temple and encountered her old rival, Mori Ranmaru, conducting the Demon King ritual. Kanna and Ranmaru engaged in a fierce battle, in which she successfully destroyed Ranmaru's altar, allowing Princess Sakuno to awaken and terminate the ritual prematurely, causing large swaths of Hinomaru across space and time to be transported to the continent of Zipangu on Maple World. In the new world, Kanna - with her abilities weakened in the strange land she found herself in - began aiding the Sengoku Warriors while training to regain her strength. With the bickering daimyos barely working together, Kanna began exploring Maple World in order to learn more about their new surroundings, as well as to discover what Oda Nobunaga and his army were planning. While exploring Maple World, Kanna learned that Akechi Mitsuhide - one of Oda's Four Heavenly Kings - had formed an alliance with the Black Wings. Believing Mitsuhide to have done so on Oda's orders, the Sengoku Warriors hoped to find allies in Maple World to stop Oda's ambitions to become the Demon King.
As Kanna continued growing stronger, she decided to seek out Empress Cygnus and formed an alliance between the Sengoku Warriors and the Maple Alliance. Soon after, the Sengoku Warriors began to investigate strange activities in Mu Lung, where they discovered that Akechi Mitsuhide had turned on Oda Nobunaga, and that he had orchestrated the battle at Honnou-ji and used Oda's name to employ the Black Wings in order to cause chaos between Oda and the Sengoku Warriors. Soon after, Kanna was dispatched to El Nath in order to stop Mori Ranmaru, who was hoping to conduct a new Demon King ritual. As the Sengoku Warriors continued growing stronger, they launched an invasion of Honnou-ji, which was being protected by one of the Four Heavenly Kings - Takigawa Kazumasu. After defeating him, however, they were shocked to learn that Oda had already drained the spiritual energy of Honnou-ji and moved to another location. With the Four Heavenly Kings in disarray, the Sengoku Warriors began preparing to defeat Oda and find a way back home.
