Lucid is the final boss of Lachelein, the third area of Arcane River. Lucid is attempting to spread her dream manipulation magic beyond Lachelein, and it is up to you to work with Protective Mask to defeat her.

Battle Overview

Lucid can be fought in Easy, Normal and Hard mode. To deal regular damage to the boss, ✦Arcane Force / Power (ARC) is required. Easy, Normal, and Hard mode require a minimum of ✦360 ARC. Story Mode requires a minimum of ✦250 ARC. You will deal 10% more damage if your ARC is ✦396 - 467 (Easy, Normal, and Hard mode) or ✦275 - 324 (Story mode), 30% more damage if your ARC is at ✦468 - 539 (Easy, Normal, and Hard mode) or ✦325 - 374 (Story mode), and 50% more damage if your ARC is at ✦540 or more (Easy, Normal, and Hard mode) or ✦375 or more (Story mode, note that ARC is only available in increments of 5).

You must be in a party of 1 - 6 players in order to fight her, and each player has a Death Count of 5. If all players reach 0 lives, then the battle will end and the party will be kicked out of the boss fight. The battle has a time limit of 30 minutes, and a Potion Cooldown of 5 seconds is applied. All attacks deal % HP damage, so they must be manually avoided as they ignore any evasion stats and damage reduction skills (unless the skill is specifically stated to include damage proportional to HP).

The battle consists of 2 phases (3 in Hard mode), and each phase will give Lucid 10 lives / HP bars that must be depleted in order to advance. Throughout the battle, Protective Mask will warn players when Lucid uses certain skills/attack patterns, as well as give players advice on how to proceed.

In Genesis mode, the potion usage will be restricted to 50 times. Therefore, it's recommended to heal with skill Decent Holy Fountain in this mode instead.

NOTE: Most damage values will vary based on difficulty, and will be listed in order from lowest difficulty to highest. Example: if listed as 20% / 25% / 30%, then the 20% correlates to Easy mode, the 25% correlates to Normal mode, and the 30% correlates to Chaos mode. If there are no listed values, then it is the same regardless of difficulty unless stated otherwise.

Phase 1

In Phase 1, Lucid will sit on a stationary flower in the middle of a flat map and attack players with a variety of skills:

  • Fairy Dust: Lucid can fire a bunch of large crescent-shaped bullets in various directions which deal 30% HP damage each. If multiple bullets overlap, you will take damage for each bullet, and getting hit will cause small butterflies to appear in the background.
  • Flower Explosion: Lucid can create several lines of flowers on the screen and detonate them to deal 20% / 30% / 30% HP damage to players. This skill is similar to Damien Phase 2's Spatial Rip.
  • Forced Teleport: Starting at 90% HP remaining, Lucid can teleport players to a random spot on the map. She can potentially teleport players onto Nightmare Golems, which will cause them to take damage if there are too many Golems on the map. Note that she cannot use this pattern for 12 seconds after summoning a Dragon. This has a 40 / 30 / 30 second cooldown.
  • Summon Nightmare Mushroom: Lucid can summon a Nightmare Mushroom, that move slowly and deal 50% HP touch damage to nearby players. In Hard mode, she can summon 2 at once, each moving towards opposite ends of the map. These will disappear automatically after 10 / 10 / 18 seconds if not defeated.
  • Summon Nightmare Golem: Lucid can summon Nightmare Golems in increasing amounts as the battle continues. These Golems will fall from above when summoned, dealing 20% / 20% / 30% HP damage to any unfortunate players directly underneath. Nightmare Golems serve as a physical wall to prevent players from dodging other attacks, as players cannot jump through them. Attempting to jump, fly, or glide over the Golems will result in the player being inflicted with the Potion Block debuff for up to 6 seconds and taking 70% HP damage continuously, while jobs will teleport skills will only receive 70% HP damage once. These must be defeated as fast as possible as they can quickly accumulate.
  • Summon Nightmare Butterfly: Lucid can summon Nightmare Butterflies that fly around and fire bullets that deal 20% HP damage each. These cannot be attacked.
  • Summon Dragon: Lucid creates a flute and summons a Dragon. When this pattern begins, the map will be covered in green fog and Protective Mask will warn players that "Lucid summoned a powerful monster!" A dragon will descend to the ground on either the left or right end of the map and perform a long-ranged fire breath that instantly kills players in range. Damage from the breath can be avoided by standing behind the dragon or using a skill like Blink to float in the air. This cannot be attacked.
  • Bomb: Lucid will attach bombs with timers to players, each of which will deal 180% HP damage to the carrier on explosion. This damage can be reduced by either standing near other players or standing near one of the dream bubbles that will appear on the map. The damage will be divided by the number of players in the vicinity (including the bombed player) if any are present, or by 2 (thus doing 90% max HP damage) if a dream bubble is nearby but no other players are.
  • Butterfly Swarm: Throughout the battle, small butterflies will continuously spawn in the background of the map, as well as when getting hit by certain attacks. They are stationary, partially transparent, and harmless to the players. However, when the number of butterflies exceeds a certain limit, Lucid will cast a special attack. Each butterfly will split itself into 3 smaller butterflies and they will simultaneously charge towards the players. Each of the smaller butterflies will deal 20% HP damage, so players will have to move continuously to dodge the attack. Each player will only see the butterflies targeting them, so they don't have to dodge butterflies targeting other players. To remove the small butterflies on the map, the player must activate a trumpet statue on either end of the map by holding the NPC Chat / Harvest key. For each of Lucid's life bars that is eliminated, the statues will gain one activation, with a maximum of 3 uses at a time.
  • For every quarter of her total HP (75%, 50%, 25%), Lucid will cast spells more frequently, and the background butterflies will spawn more often, forewarned with the following messages:
    • 75%: "Lucid is calling on her true power!"
    • 50%: "Lucid is about to unleash her power!"
    • 25%: "Lucid is enraged!"

Phase 2

In this phase, players will confront Lucid in a map full of platforms. Lucid will fly freely around the map.

  • Summon Dragon: Lucid will summon the dragon with the same warning message. The dragon now targets a large area in the middle of the map and moves up and down, covering most of the map (indicated by green fog). The highest and lowest platforms are safe spots during this attack.
  • Summon Nightmare Butterfly: Lucid will continue to summon butterflies, which are still invincible. These butterflies have higher fire rate and shoot more bullets.
  • Summon Nightmare Golem: Golems will continue to spawn, though they function a bit differently to Phase 1. When spawned, a golem will temporarily destroy the platform it is summoned on, dropping any players standing on it and dealing 30% HP damage to any players on the platform. They no longer act as a wall, but will attack nearby players, dealing 10% / 30% / 30% HP damage.
  • Fairy Dust: While flying around, Lucid will release crescent-shaped bullets like in Phase 1. However, they will be much faster, higher in number, and deal 30% / 51% / 70% HP damage.
  • Bomb: Same as Phase 1.
  • Lucid gains 2 powerful attacks in this phase, both forewarned by Protective Mask. She will disappear from her current place on the map.
    • Rush: Lucid may appear in the center of the map enraged, before charging around the map in a clockwise motion. Players hit by her will receive 50% / 70% / 100% HP damage. While charging, she cannot be hit.
    • Lasers: Lucid will appear in the background of the map and summon a flurry of lasers. These lasers have a short warning beforehand and will deal 34% / 34$ / 51% HP damage. Each player will see different lasers, and players do not have to dodge lasers on other players' screens. The player may survive by kept pressing Up on Decent Holy Fountain.
  • Butterfly Swarm: The small butterflies will still spawn in the background in 2nd phase, and can still be dispelled using the trumpet statues on the top left and bottom right corners. When the amount of butterflies reaches its threshold. Lucid moves to the center of the map, absorbs all of the butterflies and releases many bullets around her together with 4 butterflies in 4 corners. The platforms will disappear and players can fly around the map to dodge the bullets. Players caught by any of the bullets will take 33% / 51% / 100% HP damage. When the attack ends, the platforms will reappear. The Nightmare Golems will be paused during the attack, but players can still be attacked by them.
  • Cloak of Nightmares: If player fall into the bottom of the map, the player will be teleported back to the center of map. In Hard mode, player will also receive a debuff that cannot restore HP for 6 seconds after the player fall.

Phase 3 (Hard mode only)

In this phase, the background turns red and Lucid teleports to the center of the map. During this phase, Lucid will be stationary, staying in one place as Nightmare Golems continue to appear. Players will take 30% HP damage continuously, which can be prevented by Party Buffs such as Bishop's Benediction skill. Lucid will have 10 lives with 1,280,000,000,000 (1.28 trillion) HP each. The timer will start counting down from 45 seconds (note that you cannot damage her for the first 5 seconds), and the party must deplete all of her HP before the timer ends. At 10% HP, she will heal herself for an additional 5% HP. If players are not able to deplete all her lives, she will revert back to Phase 2 with 16% HP remaining.

Normal

Normal mode was the highlight of V: Lucid patch, and it posed a challenge for high-end players not only because of the whopping HP of 24 trillion, exceeding both Normal Lotus and Damien, but also because of the newly introduced Arcane Power / Force system, requiring players to have 3 maxed[3] Arcane Symbols in order to deal full damage.

Trivia

References

  1. In Hard mode, the Trumpet Statue has the same appearance as Phase 1.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 2.6 Estimated, may not be 100% accurate
  3. At 5th job release, the maximum level of Arcane Symbols was 15, so 3 maxed symbols would mean 360 ARC, which is the exact amount needed for this boss.
  4. Lucid's heal accounts for approximately 2 additional HP bars worth of HP (20%) compared to the base amount, and this is included in her total HP.
