This book was written by an anonymous author who escaped to Victoria Island aboard a ship when the Black Mage invaded Ossyria.

Thanks to the sacrifice of the hero Aran, we were able to board the airship.
Our destination was the southern plains. We were going to settle there and start a new town.
(The next lines are smudged and illegible.)
Along the journey, dragons attacked the airship and shot it down. Why they attacked was a mystery.
We crashed in a dense forest. Due to the effects of the continental separation, the dust was as thick as fog.
The forest was the territory of the fairies, but their queen didn't seem hostile to us. Maybe because our leader was an Elf.
Feeling at ease for the time being, we set up a temporary camp in the forest.
Under our leader's direction, each of us assumed at least one role and made an effort to resume our daily life.
The magician made it rain over the entire forest to settle the dust.
The fog subsided when it rained. It wasn't fertile like the southern lands, but life in the forest wasn't bad after the dust settled. We started to become more hopeful.
We planned to start a new town centered on the camp.
Because of the dust, we couldn't stop the rain, which took its toll on the physically frail among us. Not wanting to overtax their health, we focused on building tent houses for a while.
We worried what the constant rain would do to our health in the long run, but we worried more about the dust, which we feared could turn the forest into a desert if left unchecked.
(The next lines are smudged and illegible.)
The Fairy Queen turned on us so suddenly. Why was she so furious? We had no idea.
After some time, our leader met with the Fairy Queen and convened a conference.
After the long conference, we decided to move out of the Fairy Queen's territory.
The pioneer proposed we form an exploration party to scout a new town. We needed to move away from the southern plains. In order to do so, we needed to cross Mushroom Hill. That was nearly impossible for the old and the weak.
Even if we found another land like he insisted, it wouldn't be possible to take everyone. All those who participated in the conference were aware of this fact, but no one dared bring it up. We needed hope even if it was false.
It was then that the pioneer's wife entered the conference room. She said that she would repair the airship since she's a mechanic.
If the airship is repaired, then we could take everyone with us. However, she was pregnant.
Everyone looked at the pioneer. He remained silent for a while, then he finally got up to set out on the exploration.
We felt guilty for the couple's sacrifice but remained silent.
(A page has been torn out.)
As she repaired the airship in the rain day after day, her belly continued to grow. Even so, she toiled at the repairs nonstop.
Just a little more. Sacrifice a little more to make everyone happy. It wasn't just her, but everybody here gave something up to protect their future.
And it was around that time...
A strange visitor arrived in the forest.
(A page has been torn out.)
After the death of the Fairy Queen, the magician stopped the rain to protect the camp from the infuriated fairies. He decided to focus his magical powers on strengthening the Barrier Stone.
(The next lines are smudged and illegible.)
That was when tragedy struck. When the rain stopped, the growth in the forest... (The next lines are smudged and illegible.)
The funeral was short.
A black ribbon was tied to mark the spot where she last stood.
After some time, the pioneer returned to camp. He seemed to be on his last legs.
He'd come upon a suspicious tent where he discovered a dangerous truth. That is where he received the curse, but it was kept secret.
After telling the story only to his son and the camp leader, he drew his last breath.

For some reason, the leader wasn't on guard when the visitor arrived.
