[Day 12]
Where in the world is Dr. De Lang? All I asked for were ingredients, and yet he's been absent for five days and counting. When I considered it, he did leave in a hurry with some old books under each arm. While the books are like him, the rush is not.

Thinking he'd gotten mixed up in some preposterous business again, I reported it to Alcadno Society HQ, but Maed just brushed me off, saying 'He'll find his way back.'

[Day 15]
He's still gone. This certainly isn't like him. So I looked around De Lang's lab and found a report: 'The Effects of Magic on Mental Processes.' Magic? We're alchemists, not magicians. What is this doing here?

Another of his journals was filled from cover to cover with arcane letters and complex pentacles. The only thing I could make heads or tails of said there was a lab in the forgotten underground passage. I have no sense of what to make of this, but I can't shake my unease nonetheless.

[Day 17]
I went to De Lang's home in search of answers. The entrance was sealed, but I forced my way in. I found magic residue scattered around, like an explosion had occurred. His equipment had rusted and broken glass was strewn about. Just what happened, De Lang?

[Day 20]
Today, I went to see Han the Broker. I enquired if he'd heard any news of De Lang. After thinking a moment, he said he saw someone suspicious (not me) near De Lang's home. I asked him if knew of a lab in the underground passage, but he just tilted his head in confusion. Is it such a secret that even Han doesn't know of it?

[Day 23]
I made an effort to make sense of the pentacles I found in De Lang's notes. Cross-referencing some tomes in the archives, I found a match... An ancient pentacle for mind control! A tool for subjugating another to one's will. Why would he need this?
