Long ago lived a boy named Paku. Every day, Paku stared into the sky, longing to fly like the birds do.
Nothing could shake his fascination, be it the changing of the seasons or the pleas of friends.
'If only I could fly...' he'd say.
At some point that erstwhile dream became a goal. So he focused, stared hard into the sky to study how the birds made flight.
His eyes began to dim. The harsh sun and cold winds slowly took their toll, but Paku did not avert his gaze.
Eventually, the light left Paku's eyes entirely. He could no longer see the birds, and his memory of them began to fade in turn.
'All I'd ever wanted was...'
Paku wept, but tears would not save him. The world he'd dreamed of seeing from above had vanished.
