Primordial God
The Primordial God, also known as the Creator, is the progenitor of all existence, having created the universe and everything in it.
Story
In the beginning, the Primordial God made 365 creations - the sun, the moon, the stones, the trees, the wind, the rivers, the seas, and countless others - each adhering to 365 laws that governed the universe. From these 365 creations that made up the world, powerful beings were brought into existence that embodied these natural laws. Over time, these beings were revered as gods by mortals, and ages later, they would be known as the Ancient Gods. These Ancient Gods were unpredictable and uncontrollable, each with their own independent aims and goals, causing them to come into conflict with each other. Their incredible power and disregard for the natural order created an age of immense chaos that led to devastation and destruction in the mortal world. Unable to abide such chaos, the Primordial God created three beings known as the Overseers in order to restore balance to the universe.
The Overseers created a powerful relic known as the World Heart, which the elders of Grandis used to create the Godspheres. By fusing the Godspheres with Vessels, the elders were able to create the first Adversaries. The Adversaries defeated the gods, after which the Overseers reorganized the universe, such that only three worlds - Maple World, Grandis, and Tynerum - should exist. These three worlds, which had once been connected as one, were separated into different dimensions and governed by the three laws of light, life, and time. To enforce the three laws and to ensure that the Ancient Gods would never rise again, the Overseers created three Transcendents for each of the three worlds. The power of the Transcendents suppressed the Ancient Gods, who gradually fell into an unnatural slumber, with the exception of Shinsoo, who was tasked with watching over the bloodline of the Empress of Maple World, whose descendant would one day awaken as a replacement Transcendent, should the need arise. Since then, the Overseers continued using the Transcendents to enforce the three laws, thus restoring order to the universe until the Black Mage, the Transcendent of Light, fought back against the Overseers and arranged for the three Transcendents of Maple World to disappear, destroying the Overseers' hold on Maple World. With the absence of the Transcendents, the dormant Ancient Gods began reawakening, with Gerand Darmoor, another corrupt Transcendent, attempting to upend the natural order by remaking life in his image.
Trivia
- Despite being the most powerful being in the universe, the Primordial God has only been mentioned three times in the game.
- The first time was in Angelic Buster's original class storyline, which introduced the lore about the Primordial God, the Overseers, and the Transcendents. However, this mention was removed in her storyline remaster during the KMS Fall 2023 Update.
- The Primordial God was mentioned again - albeit indirectly - in the Mihile story revamp from the Ignition update, in which Shinsoo explains that the Overseers are the "agents of God", although the GMS localization translated this as "proxies of the gods".
- The Primordial God was then mentioned in the Heroes of Maple story remaster in the Dreamer Update, in which the records within the ruins of Abraxas stated that in order to eradicate the chaos of the Ancient Gods, the Overseers had sealed them away in the name of the Creator. With the removal of the Primordial God's name in the Angelic Buster storyline, the Heroes of Maple storyline is currently the only place in which the Primordial God is referenced. Although 'the Creator' is the current term being used to refer to this entity, this article will continue to refer to them as the Primordial God until their name has been firmly established in the KMS story team continuity.
- In GMS, the Primordial God was localized as the Primal God in Angelic Buster's storyline until the term was removed in her storyline remaster.
