Mar is a young nomad from a wandering caravan in search of paradise.

Story

Escape from Verdel

Mar was part of a caravan that wandered the galaxy in search of paradise. During the caravan's search, their ship was pulled down by an enormous vortex created centuries ago over the moon of Verdel during a failed ritual to transform Ark into a Specter. After crashing on Verdel, the nomads discovered Ark lying unconscious in the desert and took him back to their refuge. Several days later, Ark awoke and found himself tied to a rock. He noticed that his Flora wings had been shorted out, and that his left arm was large and monstrous. During this time, a horde of Specters invaded the caravan's camp, causing the nomads to free Ark so that he could flee. When Ark learned that Mar had been left behind, he rushed in to rescue the child, earning the caravan's trust. Several days later, Ark - while helping the caravan set up their new base - noticed Mar trying to sneak out of the shelter. He tried to tell Mar to stay in the shelter, but the boy simply laughed and ran away. Ark decided to follow him to make sure that he wouldn't be in danger and chased him south of the shelter, where Mar stopped and asked him to collect Crushed Crystals from the Crystal Sand Tortoises for a secret project. After he collected them, Mar led him to his secret hideout, where he showed Ark all the shiny objects that he had gathered. Next to the shiny objects, Ark discovered an enormous crystal hollowed out and filled with technological parts installed inside. He immediately recalled that the crystal was a spaceship that the High Flora had once used to invade Verdel centuries ago. Realizing that the caravan could use the ship to escape Verdel, Ark proposed an operation to recover the three crystal fragments needed to activate it. Despite the arrival of the High Flora, Mar and the caravan was able to escape Verdel and settle in Savage Terminal.

Aftermath

After the battle of Tenebris, Ark traveled to Savage Terminal in order to visit Mar and the others. The nomads arrived and greeted Ark, explaining that they had heard all about how he had saved another world. Seeing all his friends together, Ark thought to himself that though he had lost everything once, he now had things to protect again, for which he vowed to never give up. He then asked the nomads how their quest to find paradise was going, to which they replied that it was still going, though they hoped to find it soon. They then continued talking about each other's stories for hours, with Ark resolving his commitment to never giving up on protecting the ones he cared about.

Strange Tides

Soon after the battle of Carcion, Mar and the other nomads arrived in Carcion during the Octo Fest held by the Anima and the Nautilus crew, which had also been attended by the otters of Identisk. During the festival, the Adversary met with Mar, who told them that he loved how sparkly the sand and sea were, claiming that it was his favorite out of everything that he had seen. Mar held up a seashell to the Adversary, who told him that it was quite pretty. Mar excitedly told the Adversary that there were many such shells around, which looked like stars in the night sky. He added that when the night sky reflected on the sea, the boundary between sea and sky disappeared, making everything look beautiful and mysterious. The Adversary asked Mar whether he enjoyed it in Carcion, and though Mar claimed that he did, he also noted that Carcion was already inhabited, and that he felt bad intruding on other people's land without permission. Ultimately, the caravan realized that Carcion wasn't the paradise that they were searching for, and so they resolved to continue wandering the world in search of the paradise they wanted.
