Irvin is a pilot who formerly worked in the Edelstein air force. After resigning in protest over the armed forces conducting human experimentation, Irvin became a freelance pilot and flight instructor.
Story
Edelstein Navy
Fifty years before the battle of Black Heaven, Irvin was an ace pilot in the Edelstein air force, working closely with a charismatic officer in the Edelstein navy named Martini, as well as a talented scientist named Gelimer. Soon after, however, Irvin learned that the armed forces had sanctioned unethical experiments on living test subjects. When Irvin confronted his friends, however, Martini claimed that he supported Edelstein's decision, believing that the experiments were necessary to protect their people. Gelimer agreed with Martini, explaining that it was all in the name of progress. Though Irvin resigned in disgust, Martini and Gelimer stayed behind, with Gelimer continuing his research in order to satisfy his curiosity, at the expense of his conscience. Following his resignation, Irvin became a freelance pilot who flew passengers across Maple World and instructed others in flying.
Gold Beach
A traveler received an invitation from Gold Richie to his newest expedition into recreation, Gold Beach Resort. The traveler boarded a plane flown by Irvin, which soon crashed on the beach. Irvin realized that there was no fuel in the plane and regretted not having added more before taking off. He then noticed Palm Tree Slimes in the area and asked the traveler to clear them out. After the traveler took care of the monsters, Irvin thanked them and promised that he would make sure to fuel up before his flights.
Meeting Angelic Buster
After Angelic Buster first came to Maple World, she encountered Irvin at the Six Path Crossway, where he suggested that she meet with Athena Pierce in Henesys.
Meeting Illium
After Illium and his friends came to Maple World, they encountered Irvin, who asked them if they wanted to go to Gold Beach. Carnelian asked him if he could answer a few questions instead, but Irvin told them that he was busy and suggested that they ask Chief Stan in Henesys.
Black Heaven
After the Maple Alliance launched an attack on Black Heaven, Irvin offered his services in the battle and rescued Checky, Brighton, and Belle after their airships were shot down by Gelimer. Along the way, Irvin told them that over fifty years ago, he had been an officer in Edelstein's air force, working alongside Admiral Martini and Gelimer, who had been a military scientist. After learning that Martini had commissioned experiments on living subjects, Irvin had left the military in protest, though Gelimer had stayed behind in order to pursue his dream research. Belle asked if his dream was to construct Black Heaven, but Irvin explained that Gelimer specialized in medicine and biotechnology and had little interest in machines. Irvin felt responsible for not doing more to save Gelimer and asked them to do their best to stop him. After the battle, Claudine informed Irvin about the deaths of his former friends, to which that he had simply noted that it had been quite appropriate, with Claudine believing that he needed time to process.
