“A bountiful land with a sunny climate and a diverse array of plants. At its center is Chu Chu Village, home to many friendly folks.”
- ― In-game description for Chu Chu Island
Chu Chu Island is the second major area in the Arcane River. On their way to face the Black Mage, the player is blocked from proceeding further by a friendly giant named Muto. Finding themselves in a land where the Erdas have fused into colorful and chaotic combinations, the player must work with the people of Chu Chu Island to feed Muto so that he can protect the village from a giant monster named Gulla.
This region can be accessed on foot via Damp Falls in Vanishing Journey. It is generally divided into three sections: Five-Color Hill / Slurpy Forest, Eree Valley, and Skywhale Mountain. Each section requires a certain amount of Arcane Power to deal normal damage to the monsters here, with Five-Color Hill / Slurpy Forest requiring 100, Eree Valley requiring 130, and Skywhale Mountain requiring 160. The final boss for this area is Slurpy Tree, a giant tree whose fruit can improve the flavor of any dish.
Completing the questline will reward the
Arcane Symbol: Chu Chu Island. In addition, Daily Quests are unlocked alongside the weekly Arcane River Special Content Hungry Muto, both of which grant additional Arcane Symbols that can be used to upgrade your main symbol.

Story

After helping the people of Reverse City, the Adversary continued along the Arcane River and found themselves on Chu Chu Island, where the Erdas were fusions of animals and food. The Adversary found the path ahead blocked by a friendly giant named Muto, who was refusing to eat the food that the people of Chu Chu Island were making him. The Adversary began working with the villagers in order to create a special sandwich that Muto enjoyed greatly, giving him to strength to fight a creature named Gulla, which attacked the island routinely. Grateful to the Adversary for their help, the villagers presented the Adversary with the Arcane Symbol of Chu Chu Island as thanks. The Adversary then planned to continue aboard a Flying Fish, which had appeared to help the Adversary move through the Arcane River.
Before leaving, they sent another paper boat to the Alliance, which was struggling to fight the Erda monsters in the Vanishing Journey without Arcane Power. From the information sent by the Adversary, the Alliance began working alongside the Nova, who attempted to find a way to break through the strong Erda layer around the monsters of the Arcane River. With the help of a promising magician named Melange, the Nova were able to create special stones imprinted with a disintegration spell to break through the Erda layer. Though the mineral for the stone was scarce on Grandis, Claudine discovered that the mineral was Rue Ore, found in plentiful supply in the Verne Mine. Having found their solution, the Alliance began to mine the Rue Ore, with Melange and Grendel the Really Old's Magician Association working together to imprint the disintegration spell upon the ore, thereby allowing the Alliance to fight the monsters in the Arcane River.
Trivia
- When Chu Chu Island was first released in the V Update, the Slurpy Forest, Eree Valley, and Skywhale Mountain each had special maps with augmented versions of monsters in each area, with Vanishing Journey and Lachelein also having special maps in their respective areas. - With the Beyond / Override Update, Vanishing Journey's special maps were repurposed and had their Arcane Power reduced from 360 to 80, while Chu Chu Island and Lachelein had their special maps removed due to the release of Arcana.
