Corsair is a Pirate class that is known for high mobility, survivability, a medium level of damage compared to other classes, and a large number of summons that provide constant damage in bosses.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • High mobility - Wings and Recoil Shot allow Corsairs to move around the map quickly
  • Medium level of survivability - Scurvy Summons blocks inflicted statuses and Eight Legs Easton provides super stance
  • Good level of map control when mobbing, due to summons
  • High level of burst damage (e.g. Brain Scrambler) during bossing

Weaknesses

  • Lower damage compared to other classes as Rapid Fire does not benefit from attack speed increases, and Eight Legs Easton has relatively slow attack speed
  • Medium party utility - only Pirate's Banner provides damage increase for party members
  • Summons need to be resummoned every 1-2 minutes, and are limited (e.g. Octocannon requires boost nodes to hit 2 monsters, Broadside only hits in one direction and has a limited hitbox)

Gameplay

Bossing

When bossing, Corsairs primarily use Rapid Fire, Brain Scrambler, and passive attack from Majestic Presence to deal damage. The class also typically uses summons through Broadside, Siege Bomber and Scurvy Summons to maintain consistent damage. Scurvy Summons helps reduce inflicted statuses by blocking up to 2 debuffs from bosses.

Corsairs can use Wings to leap upwards and glide, or Recoil Shot to retreat backwards, to avoid boss attacks. Using Nautilus Strike also increases the effect of Majestic Presence to help increase damage output. Quickdraw is automatically activated to increase the final damage of certain skills.

Mobbing

When mobbing, Corsairs use Eight-Legs Easton and its summons as their main mobbing skill. There are many full map attacks including Nautilus Strike, Bullet Barrage, Nautilus Assault, Death Trigger and Target Lock.

The class has many summons that can be placed around the map, but this requires a constant rotation to keep summons up. Roll of the Dice also helps give a small boost to EXP gain.

Prioritising Brain Scrambler will increase burst damage while bossing. Improving Rapid Fire helps with the constant damage.

The recommended trinodes for Corsair are split into three categories - bossing, summons and mobbing. For a bossing mule, it's sufficient to focus on the first two trinodes rather than the full 3. For Corsair mains, boost all 9 skills.
