Salvo is a demolitions expert and a nomad from a wandering caravan in search of paradise.

Story

In Search of Paradise

Salvo was part of a caravan that wandered the galaxy in search of paradise. During the caravan's search, their ship was pulled down by an enormous vortex created centuries ago over the moon of Verdel during a failed ritual to transform Ark into a Specter. After crashing on Verdel, Salvo used his demolition skills to help the caravan survive on the desert moon. On one of their expeditions, Salvo, Zippy, and Ferret were searching for useful material buried in the sand. Suddenly, they came across an unconscious Ark lying in the desert and took him back to their refuge. Several days later, Ark awoke and found himself tied to a rock. He noticed that his Flora wings had been shorted out, and that his left arm was large and monstrous. During this time, a horde of Specters invaded the caravan's camp, causing the nomads to free Ark so that he could flee. After learning that one of the nomad children - Mar - had been left behind, Ark fought the Specters in order to rescue the child, with his own Specter powers awakening and causing him to fall unconscious in the process. A few days later, the nomads were in the process of rebuilding their shelter. Ark, who had fallen unconscious after the battle, awoke in the camp, unable to recall anything that had happened after the strange power had overtaken him. While helping the nomads set up their new camp, Ark was asked by Salvo to collect meat from the Ferocious Desert Mushes. Soon after, Ark discovered an enormous crystal buried in the desert, which he recalled was a spaceship that the High Flora had once used to invade Verdel centuries ago. Realizing that the caravan could use the ship to escape Verdel, Ark proposed an operation to recover the three crystal fragments needed to activate it. Zippy was glad to hear the good news, as it would give hope to the caravan. Ark, Zippy, and Ferret went to the crystal, where Zippy showed Ferret the hollowed-out section of the crystal and explained that the ship would work if they could find the crystal energy shards that fit into it. Ferret tuned in to the crystal's signal, allowing him to find complementary signals that would reveal the locations of the shards. Zippy decided to form a recovery team composed of Digs, Grit, Ferret, Salvo, and Ark.

Escape from Verdel

Back at the refuge, Zippy told Ark that he would gather rations, weapons, and armor from the other caravanners and asked Ark to help Ferret and Salvo in the meantime. Salvo asked Ark to find Exploding Eyeballs from Bomber Hermit Crabs in order to make demolitions, after which the group set out on an expedition to recover the crystal fragments. The group pushed forward past the desert foxes and soon found the signal coming directly below them. Salvo used his demolitions to reveal the second piece, but the strength of his bombs caused the ground to cave in. The team and the buried crystal fell into a large cavern system beneath the sand, with everyone being separated from each other. Salvo was soon rescued by Ark, who gathered the others and the crystal fragment, and the group moved ahead to the remnants of an old High Flora base, where they found the signal for the last fragment. Salvo used a controlled explosion to reveal the third crystal, after which Ark told the others that he had remembered that the spaceship near the refuge drew power, which was why the Specters had been drawn towards it, as they wanted more of the same power. He then realized that the people of the caravan, who were close to the spaceship, were in danger. Salvo wondered whether they could outrun the Specters and power the spaceship for their escape, but Ark replied that it would take too long to get the power source running and instead suggested that they split up into two teams.While he, Salvo, and Digs set up a defense line, Ferret could take the crystals to start the ship. Ferret then began running towards the ship as Ark struggled to hold off the Specters. Meanwhile, Salvo and Digs were pushed back by the arrival of High Flora soldiers under the command of Ark's old friend, Albaire, who had been dispatched by the Apostle Limbo in order to complete the mission they had started centuries ago to drain Verdel's bioenergy. While Ark fought Albaire, Salvo and the others boarded the transport and picked up Ark, just as the High Flora began draining Verdel's bioenergy. The caravan escaped Verdel and landed on Savage Terminal, which they decided to make their new home. Before Ark and the caravan went their separate ways, Ark brought Wiggling Tails from Mutant Nutrias at Salvo's request in order to ensure that the caravan had enough rations. Ferret then boosted Ark's communication device so that they could speak regardless of distance. They then said their goodbyes, and Ark went his separate way, eventually arriving in Maple World.

Black Heaven

As Ark prepared to fight during the battle of Black Heaven, he was happy to feel his determination to protect others return. His thoughts then turned to the caravan and how they considered him a friend, making him hope that they had found the paradise that they were searching for. Recalling how Salvo had told him to follow his heart, he returned back to Savage Terminal and used the communication device that they had given him. He was able to contact Salvo, Ferret, and Zippy, who told him that they were near the area. The entire caravan came to greet Ark and spent hours talking. Ark learned that they had yet to find their paradise, though they promised to let him know once they did. After saying their goodbyes, Ark was happy that they were doing well, and that between them and his friends from Maple World, he had much to protect.

Aftermath

After the battle of Tenebris, Ark traveled to Savage Terminal in order to visit Salvo and the others. The nomads arrived and greeted Ark, explaining that they had heard all about how he had saved another world. Seeing all his friends together, Ark thought to himself that though he had lost everything once, he now had things to protect again, for which he vowed to never give up. He then asked the nomads how their quest to find paradise was going, to which they replied that it was still going, though they hoped to find it soon. They then continued talking about each other's stories for hours, with Ark resolving his commitment to never giving up on protecting the ones he cared about.

Strange Tides

Soon after the battle of Carcion, Salvo and the other nomads arrived in Carcion during the Octo Fest held by the Anima and the Nautilus crew, which had also been attended by the otters of Identisk. During the festival, the Adversary met with Salvo, who was singing and dancing at the festival. Upon noticing the Adversary, Salvo invited them over to dance with him, rather than standing there blankly. The Adversary asked Salvo whether he was having fun, to which Salvo explained that he was ready to have fun wherever he went as long as he had fun music and food. However, he admitted that he wasn't totally satisfied, as the traditional music in Carcion was far quieter than the artistic beats that he was used to. The Adversary thanked Salvo for his feedback before heading over to meet another nomad holding a signal beacon. Ultimately, the caravan realized that Carcion wasn't the paradise that they were searching for, and so they resolved to continue wandering the world in search of the paradise they wanted.
