Von Bon is one of the four Seal Guardians created by Damien, tasked with keeping the World Tree imprisoned in Root Abyss. He possesses the power of time manipulation.
Story
Root Abyss and the World Tree
Von Bon was created by Damien as the leader of the four Seal Guardians, tasked with ensuring that Alicia remain trapped in Root Abyss. When an Alliance member accidentally stumbled into Root Abyss, they discovered Alicia and learned that an eye-patched demon had created four mysterious doors that kept her trapped inside. Eventually, the Alliance launched an operation to rescue Alicia and sent its forces to defeat the Seal Guardians.
Yum Yum Island
When the Adversary (the player character), travels to Yum Yum Island, they encounter Caster, a fusion of Von Bon and a chameleon (of which there were many roaming around Von Bon's Garden). Caster was formed in an experiment that involves reusing the Erda (life energy) of Maple World's strongest creatures to create new lifeforms, conducted by Kaling. When the player meets Caster, Caster notices that the player doesn't have a button, indicating that the player is an outsider. The duo are then ambushed by a group of Monkeyrogs and Bunshrooms, who are easily defeated and leave, but not before telling Caster to give in to his instincts. The player asks Caster why the Monkeyrog brought up instincts, and Caster says he is able to suppress his urges to cause chaos for a greater purpose: finding his sun (his "master"). Likewise, Bappy, a fusion of Pierre and a parrot, suppresses his urges to focus on party preparations.
The player accompanies Caster and Puptail, a fusion of Horntail and a dog, as they search for Bappy's match made in heaven. The group then searches the Illiard Field and eventually come across a flower that hatches Muppy, a parrot with blue feathers. Muppy recalls hearing the voice of another person calling him a "failure", leading to Caster realizing that he and his friends were all experiments created for a greater scheme. Caster gives in to his instincts and gets riled up into a frenzy, after which he suffers a brief existential crisis before running into the Fungos Forest.
The player and Puptail chase after Caster, running into a giant flower that spawns a creature born from Afrien's Erda. After facing off with the creature, the player is almost hurt, but Caster shields the player and gets riled up into a frenzy again, attacking the creature with the player. The creature is defeated, leaving behind a button that turns to dust. The player realizes that any powerful being could have its Erda reused to create a new creature, with its allegiance and power being unpredictable.
After the creature disappears, Caster nearly attacks the player once again, but Lyon appears and pounces on him, knocking Caster's button to the ground and bringing Caster back to his senses. A hand with dark energy appears from Caster's button, which Lyon destroys with his cane. Caster notices the insignia on Lyon's cape (formerly Damien's insignia) and realizes that Lyon was the sun that he was looking for the entire time (showing that even in their new lives, the loyalty Von Bon showed to Damien lives on with Caster and Lyon). Puptail alerts the group to an even larger flower on the opposite side of the Fungos Forest, with no remaining traces of the creature birthed from it. The group then heads back to the village to enjoy Bappy and Muppy's party, with Lyon welcoming the villagers to Chu Chu Island.
