World Archive

“The Guardian of the Southern Seal, tasked with protecting the seal of the World Tree. She resides quietly within the castle of the South Garden.
The Crimson Queen is a grotesque being with an enormous body and four faces, each of which has its own distinct personality. She has cold heart, disposing of her subordinates without hesitation if they displease her in the slightest.
She is said to be the second strongest among the four guardians. She despises uninvited guests, especially rude ones, so it would be wise to mind your behavior.”

The Crimson Queen is one of the four main bosses of Root Abyss, working for Damien to restrict the World Tree's power. She can be found by entering the Third Seal Door in the Colossal Root. The Crimson Queen drops the Piece of Anguish when defeated in Chaos mode, 5 of which can be exchanged for a Level 150 Royal Hat, a part of the Level 150 Root Abyss Set.

Battle Overview

The Crimson Queen can be fought in Normal and Chaos mode. You must be in a party of 1 - 6 players in order to fight her, and each player will have a Death Count of 5. If all players reach 0 lives, then the battle will end and the party will be kicked out of the boss fight. The battle has a time limit of 15 minutes in Normal mode and 20 minutes in Chaos mode.

Upon entering the boss battle, click on the Crimson Queen 5 times in Castle Crimson to wake her up and begin the fight.

The battle revolves around the Crimson Queen's four changing faces, which you will fight for a minimum of 35 seconds before it randomly changes to a different face. Each face possesses different abilities, but they all possess a hand-slash attack that strikes twice and inflicts a different status ailment on the player.

Wrathful

“To ashes!”

― The Crimson Queen's Wrathful face

Crimson Queen's Wrathful (angry) face is always the first face you will fight, and possesses the following abilities:

Hand Slash: The Crimson Queen's hand-slash attack in this form casts Darkness for up to 5 seconds, limiting your vision so that you can only see your character. Deals regular damage twice in Normal mode and 20% HP damage twice in Chaos mode.
Fire Breath: The Crimson Queen charges for a few seconds and unleashes a fire-themed breath attack that can do significant damage, but is dispersed evenly among players hit by it (for example, if 2 players take damage, they will take half the damage each). When coupled with the Hand Slash's Darkness effect, it can be deadly since the player will be unable to see which direction she is charging her Fire Breath. Deals % HP damage equivalent to 25% HP + 19,250 - (Player Defense × 0.55) in Normal Mode and % HP damage equivalent to 45% HP + 38,500 - (Player Defense × 0.55) in Chaos Mode.
Flames (Chaos mode only): The Crimson Queen can set you on fire which deals up to 4,000 damage every second, and can be stacked up to 3 times for a total of 12,000 damage; the damage is Fire-elemental and is reduced if you have a skill that increases your own Elemental Resistance. The only way to get rid of the flames is to either die or get hit by her Fire Breath.

Simmering

“I'll be your opponent.”

Crimson Queen's Simmering (winking) face possesses the following abilities:

Hand Slash: The Crimson Queen's hand-slash attack in this form casts Seal for up to 5 seconds, blocking you from using skills. Deals regular damage twice in Normal mode and 20% HP damage twice in Chaos mode.
Summon Alluring Mirror: The Crimson Queen will summon the Alluring Mirror once every time she changes into this form. The mirror must be destroyed quickly because it will seduce a random player, forcing that player to walk towards it. If the player reaches the mirror, it will instantly kill them on contact and heal the Crimson Queen for 10% HP in Normal mode and 20% HP in Chaos mode; if the player dies before reaching the mirror, the Crimson Queen will not be healed. The mirror will use this skill every 30 seconds if not destroyed.
Summon Heart Bomb (Chaos mode only): The Crimson Queen will summon 12 Heart Bombs which fly upward and explode when the player attacks or goes near them, dealing 45% HP damage each.

Joyous

“I'll destroy you all!”

Crimson Queen's Joyous (smiling) face possesses the following abilities:

Hand Slash: The Crimson Queen's hand-slash attack in this form casts Confusion for up to 1 second, reversing your key directions. Deals regular damage twice in Normal mode and 20% HP damage twice in Chaos mode.
Black Hole: The Crimson Queen will create a black hole on the floor around one player that lasts for 5 seconds. It will draw any players toward its center, slowing players and inflicting up to 1,800 damage every second in Normal mode and up to 3,000 damage in Chaos mode; the damage is Poison-elemental and is reduced if you have a skill that increases your own Elemental Resistance.
Vacuum Breath (Chaos mode only): The Crimson Queen will use her vacuum breath to pull the player toward her for up to 5 seconds, killing the player if they get too close. Players can avoid this by standing behind her or running away when she uses this.

Sorrowful

“Feel my pain!”

Crimson Queen's Sorrowful (crying) face possesses the following abilities:

Hand Slash: The Crimson Queen's hand-slash attack in this form casts Poison for up to 10 seconds, dealing up to 2,000 damage per second in Normal mode and up to 5,000 damage in Chaos mode; the damage is Poison-elemental and is reduced if you have a skill that increases your own Elemental Resistance. The attack itself deals regular damage twice in Normal mode and 20% HP damage twice in Chaos mode.
Damage Reflection: The Crimson Queen can surround herself in a red bubble that causes Damage Reflection for 8 seconds, dealing up to 100,000 damage in Normal mode and 999,999 damage in Chaos mode. This has a 30 second cooldown.
Zombify (Chaos mode only): The Crimson Queen will cast Zombify on the player, turning players Undead and causing certain Heal-type skills such as Heal and Ray of Redemption to kill the player. Unlike most other versions of Zombify which simply reduce your potion efficiency, this version of Zombify will damage and potentially kill the player if they use potions.

While Crimson Queen does not directly give EXP upon defeat, everyone who participates in the battle will receive the same amount. Normal mode will reward 220,000 EXP, and Chaos mode will reward 2,100,000 EXP.
