Differences from MapleStory
| This article or section is in the middle of an expansion or major restructuring. You can assist in its construction by editing it as well. |
- As of May 2025, MapleStory N is based on Part 2 of the Destiny Update, with few contents from later updates backported.
- Despite that, 5th Job Advancement in MapleStory N still requires 100 Stars, and 10 Stars on weapon, which was removed in MapleStory: Destiny update.
- MapleStory N has multilingual support (Bahasa Indonesia, Brazilian Portuguese, English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Thai, Traditional Chinese) in prior of GMS. However, specific in game terms are still in English between different languages for consistency.
- Players are unable to specify character name until meeting specific requirements[1]:
- The player needs to finish 3rd Job Advancement.
- The player needs to clear 2 of Level 30 - 59 Theme Dungeons.
- The player needs to liberate Runes 5 times.
- The player needs to defeat Balrog.
- Once the requirements above are met, players can specify a character name by completing quest "To the MapleStory Universe World!" to allow you mint your character to unlock marketplace feature.
- The currencies of MapleStory N are NESO and NESOLET, which can be expressed up to 6 decimal places. NESO can be only used in Marketplace website for trading items and exchanging to its relevant cryptocurrency NXPC. NXPC can be used for exchanging with NESO and other existing cryptocurrencies, such as ETH, USDT. NESOLETs can be only obtained from monster drops.
- As of May 19, 2025, the exchange rate between NXPC and NESO is 1:100,000.
- Monsters do not drop useless leftover items, and no equipments were rewarded from theme dungeons. Most of items that would expire in MapleStory don't expire in MapleStory N, such as EXP coupons, Pets.
- Instead of equipping medal from your inventory, you can select the medal you'd like to equip in medal window.
- Shop NPCs are non-functional, and Storage Keeper NPCs are unavailable.
- Spell Traces are unavailable for Equipment Enhancement, only Star Force Enhancement, Bonus Stats Enhancement, Potential and Bonus Potential are available. Unlike original MapleStory, Star Force Enhancement and Potential reset can be only done with Power Crystals and Bonus Stats can be only applied with Rebirth Flame Points. The cost of enhancement is tied to the value of NXPC.
- Players are unable to trade with methods in original MapleStory. Instead, trading can be only done via MapleStory Universe Marketplace website.
- Unlike original MapleStory, players can trade their own characters in Marketplace website.
- Experience required for level up is increased from MapleStory, and the Level Cap is 250.
- Overseas contents are unavailable, such as Masteria, The Far East, Hayato, Kanna, Gollux.
- Some contents that were previously removed in all regions of original MapleStory were added back to MapleStory N, such as Dream Defender, Bounty Hunter Portals.
