“The Reboot world prohibits trade between players,
allowing a greater focus on the joys of character progression. ”
- ― in game introduction
Reboot Worlds (Heroic Worlds in GMS) are special worlds that prevent players from trading items and removes the ability to purchase game-enhancing items from the Cash Shop, with an aim to allow players to focus on character progression. Instead of purchasing enhancement items from the Cash Shop, there is an emphasis on collecting Mesos and purchasing them from Reboot-only shops. The first Reboot World was first added in the MapleStory: Reboot Update. Non-Reboot Worlds are generally referred to as "Regular Worlds" (Interactive Worlds in GMS).
Reboot Worlds in all regions but GMS have been converted back to Non-Reboot (Regular) Worlds.
Differences from Regular World
- A passive skill is given to players.
- Players can't trade between each other with any possible methods, including direct trading, dropping items, Auction House, and Meso Market.
- All equipment is untradable. Most cash equipment is tradable within the same world.
- Some event rings, as well as Black Heart, are fully enhanced when rewarded.
- Scrolls that consume upgrade slots and Bonus Potentials are unavailable. This includes event equipment rewards other than event rings, as well as Genesis/Destiny Weapons where the stats that normally come from Spell Traces are omitted (thus having lower ATT than Interactive Worlds).
- Spell Traces can be only sold to NPCs for Mesos.
- More items can be bought directly from NPCs, like Monster Park Badges.
- In Cash Shop, NX can be only used for buying cash equipments, and lottery system can mainly get cosmetic items. In servers except JMS, enhancement items like Cubes can be only bought with Mesos or Reward Points.
- In GMS, values of Intense Power Crystals are quintupled from Regular Worlds.
- Players are required to deal at least 5% Damage to major bosses (including Princess No and Gollux) in order to get non-quest rewards including Intense Power Crystal.
- The value of Intense Power Crystal depends on number of party members who dealt 5% damage during boss fight.
- Some Sunny Sunday events are unavailable.
- The Guild Skills that affect Scrolls and Spell Traces are removed. In exchange, the Star Force and ATT passive skills have their maximum levels increased (+10 Star Force excluding Star Force Conversion type skills and +20 ATT compared to Interactive Worlds)
- The daily fatigue limit for Professions is 100 higher (600 instead of 500).
- Before the New Age Update, monsters' HP and EXP values were scaled based on their Level and Area, and a different Level Advantage Multiplier was applied in Reboot World.

Trivia
- As of CMS v201, players have to deal 5% Damage to bosses for rewards was applied in all Regular Worlds despite not having a Reboot World. [5] Later the requirement was reduced to 3% and only applied to Hard Verus Hilla and higher tier bosses. [6]
- With the removal of Reboot Worlds across non-GMS servers, GMS remains as the only server with Reboot / Heroic Worlds available to play.
