The Cash Shop is a function where players are able to buy in-game items with real money.

The Cash Shop sells a variety of unique items that characters that have many different uses. Players can buy clothes that mask over their equipment, such as overalls, shirts, pants, skirts, weapons, gloves, rings, shields, capes, and hats, and "transparent" equipment, allowing players to keep the stats of an item while making it invisible. Other items sold include special effects, wedding tickets, store coupons, pets, and plenty of other useful items. Most of the items in the Cash Shop are only temporary, and will expire after a certain amount of time (usually 90 days).

NX Cash can be purchased using real money at department and convenience stores, or with a credit card. As MapleStory is a free game, the Cash Shop is Nexon's primary source of income from the game. Despite this, the Cash Shop remains completely optional, and it is possible to enjoy MapleStory without using the Cash Shop.

In the RED Update, the Cash Shop received an overhaul in its interface to be larger than the previous 800 x 600 screen that re-sized with larger game screens, as Wizet began making MapleStory able to make the resolution larger. The interface was further overhauled in the NEXT / Post-NEXT / Post-Stargazer Update.

In Reboot World, some useful items in the Cash Shop can be bought with Mesos instead.

Depending on the amount of NX or Cash spent within the past 3 months or 100 days, players can obtain various additional quality of life benefits and item rewards via the following systems (version of origin in bold):

The cash inventory can be used to move cash items from one character to the other if the characters are under the same class category.

Nexon Cash

Note: Following methods only apply on GlobalMS. Exchange rate between real money and NX is always 1:1,000 regardless of currency.

  • Karma Koin: Karma Koin cards are gift cards available in the gift card section at many retailers. On the back cover of Karma Koin cards you will find a silver bar. Scratch off the silver bar, with your fingertips or a coin, and you will find a PIN code that you can charge to your Nexon account in exchange for NX. Previously these were known as Nexon Game Cards. Nexon Game Cards can still be redeemed however should one still happen to have any.
  • Credit Cards: NX can be bought from your Nexon account with a Credit Card. Supported examples are Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
  • Online Payment Services: Depending on the user's country, Nexon accepts various other services such as PayPal, Xsolla, and PaySafeCard.
  • Steam: When playing through Steam, the "Charge" button can be used in the cash shop to buy NX using Steam Wallet.

Maple Points

Maple Points are handed out during special events and sometimes as compensation for technical difficulties such as server issues. They can be directly bought in the Cash Shop for a 1:1 exchange rate.

They are also obtainable via the Meso Market on interactive / Regular worlds, which allows players to trade Mesos for Maple Points and vice versa.

Reward Points

Reward Points (known as Mileage in Non-GlobalMS servers) can be earned by hunting bosses, reaching a certain level (once per account), certain events, and purchasing items in the Cash Shop with Nexon Cash. Reward Points are automatically accumulated in-game and must be deposited by entering the Cash Shop up to 7 days after they were obtained. Reward Points can either be used in the Maple Rewards Shop to purchase items without the need of Nexon Cash, or to apply a discount to certain Cash Shop purchases with Nexon Cash.

Points may be redeemed from the pink present cylinder icon on the left, under "[Maple Rewards] Receive Maple Rewards for Annihilating Boss Monsters". The points must then be further redeemed by entering the cash shop. Upon entering the cash shop, a pop-up will appear in the center of the screen noting the reward points earned. No further action is required. When the reward points are not redeemed, the player will see "You have uncollected rewards!: Boss Monster Rewards" when exiting the game. When the player has yet to enter the cash shop to redeem the points, the player will see "You have uncollected rewards!: Tally Reward Points" when exiting the game.

Points may be redeemed from Maple Planner or the Boss Reward Points via the Full Menu UI.

Reward points have an expiration date, which can be checked using the "Reward Points" button at the top of the cash shop, on the "Expirations" tab.
