Maple Tree Hill (formerly known as Mushroom Town) is an area in northern Maple Island. It is a town specifically for Explorer Beginners to learn the basics of the game. As the name implies, there is a giant maple tree at the top of the hill, which is tied to Sugar, the embodiment of The Goddess of Maple World. Explorer characters start here upon creation, with their introductory questline centered around meeting Sugar], who guides them and convinces them to travel to Victoria Island to become stronger. After the Explorer accidentally releases the Black Mage from his seal, he sends a shadow of his power to destroy Maple Island, particularly the maple tree which Sugar, the Explorer, and their new friends fight to protect.

The town can be accessed on foot via Amherst and Southperry, which can be only accessed by Explorers by using the Maple Return skill or talking to Olaf in Lith Harbor. It only consists of two maps, Maple Tree Hill and Snail Park, the latter of which contains Snails, one of the weakest and most iconic monsters in the game that can also be found in Lith Harbor.
