Act 1: Forgotten Battles
A traveler heard a call for help that led them to the Phantom Forest. There, they encountered an injured warrior named Lukan, who explained that he had appeared in Masteria with no memories. While escorting Lukan out of the forest, the pair encountered Professor Foxwit, who had been sent by Mayor Icebyrd Slimm to assist them. Meanwhile, at the Masteria Research Laboratory, several researchers walked out on the team lead, Dr. Jang, after believing that her obsession with legends and fairy-tales about the Antellion was leading them nowhere. Nevertheless, Dr. Jang remained convinced that finding the Antellion and harnessing its infinite power could help them in their struggle against the Black Mage and the forces of darkness threatening Maple World. Unwilling to give up, Dr. Jang traveled alone into the Phantom Forest and entered Crimsonwood Keep, where she encountered a fragment of the Antellion and a statue of the Archdemon Naricain. To her surprise, Dr. Jang heard the voice of Naricain within the statue as she was brought to a dreamscape, where she met with Naricain face-to-face. Though Dr. Jang recognized him as a figure of evil from the myths about Masteria, Naricain showed her a vision of his tragic past in order to show her that he had a much more noble goal than she believed. Because of this, Dr. Jang agreed to help him obtain the Antellion, with both of them growing intrigued and enamored by each other.
Elsewhere, the traveler and Lukan arrived at Professor Foxwit's laboratory, where Foxwit hooked the pair into his memory machine, allowing the traveler to witness Lukan's buried memories of the past. The traveler found themselves in the Krakian Jungle, causing them to realize that Lukan had come from Masteria a thousand years ago, when the continent was known as Krakia. In Lukan's memories, the traveler witnessed Naricain attacking his foster father, Christopher Crimsonheart, having stolen a piece of the Antellion and using it to follow Crimsonheart into Maple World. Unwilling to fight his own son, Crimsonheart refused to defend himself as Naricain killed him and took the Antellion. In his final moments, Crimsonheart tasked the Grandmasters - Lukan, Lireni, Numenal, and Delgrund - as well as his other son, Subani, with destroying the Antellion.
Though Grandmaster Lireni fled in cowardice, the others stormed Crimsonwood Keep and fought Naricain. Subani used a spell to restrain Naricain as the Grandmasters destroyed the Antellion, causing them to be scattered across space and time. As the continent sank into the ocean from the Antellion's destruction, Subani sacrificed himself to seal Naricain away in a statue. Back in the present, Lukan - having regained his memories and learning how he had been sent to the present - revealed that he and the other Grandmasters came from a world called Versal, which was home to the greatest warriors and magicians of all time. With the Antellion having been created millennia ago from the sacrifice of Versal's greatest heroes, the Grandmasters had been tasked with protecting it from the unworthy. He also revealed that Subani and Naricain had been foster brothers, having been taken in by Crimsonheart with many other children who had nowhere to go. However, Naricain had grown obsessed with his belief that the Antellion needed to be used to exact complete obedience from others in order to stop evil, even going as far as to take a piece of the Antellion for himself. For this reason, the Grandmasters had brought the Antellion to Maple World and constructed Crimsonwood Keep to safeguard it. As Lukan was troubled by Masteria's mysterious return after the continent had sunk into the ocean, he and the traveler set out to investigate Crimsonwood Keep. Meanwhile, Dr. Jang used the fragment of the Antellion in the Keep to create a Time Portal, intending to help Naricain of the past steal the Antellion.
Act 2: 1000 Years and Counting
Using her Time Portal, Dr. Jang arrived in Krakia of the past and met with Naricain, revealing everything that was destined to happen in the future. Despite learning about what his family would do, Naricain praised their cleverness and revealed that he truly did care about his family, even while being at odds with them, though Dr. Jang remained mystified by Naricain's family bond. Nevertheless, she and Naricain agreed to work together, with Naricain of the past growing as infatuated with her as his present-day self. In the present, the traveler and Lukan entered the Keep and discovered Dr. Jang's Time Portal. Together, they traveled into the past, where Lukan found that his injuries had disappeared. They traveled to the Keep and met with the Grandmasters, revealing everything that had happened to them. Crimsonheart and the others were intrigued by the Time Portal and wondered whether Dr. Jang was actually Dr. Krakia, a mysterious scientist whom the native Krakians had seen in the past several days. However, they remained unsure of whether Naricain had truly fallen so far that he would even kill his own father.
Elsewhere, Dr. Jang carried out her plan to aid Naricain by polluting the water with a chemical substance that flowed downstream throughout the Krakian Empire, transforming the native Krakians into mindless, vicious beasts that obeyed only herself and Naricain. Later that evening, Subani - refusing to turn on his brother - used their connection to speak through dreams and arranged a meeting in the jungle. There, he attempted to persuade Naricain to turn back on his obsession and return home. Though Naricain truly did care for Subani, he nevertheless killed his brother, believing that Subani was fated to seal him away and stop his plans. - As the Grandmasters mourned Subani's death, Naricain and Dr. Jang prepared to carry out the next phase of their plan by using the Krakian army to attack Crimsonwood Keep and corrupt the Versalians.
Act 3: The Man from Versal
At Crimsonwood Keep, Dr. Jang used an enhanced compound to corrupt the soldiers of Crimsonwood Keep, allowing Naricain to slip through the chaos and claim the Antellion. Meanwhile, as the traveler and the Grandmasters rushed back to the Keep and fought through the corrupted army, Lireni - just as she had in the past - turned and fled out of cowardice, with only Numenal witnessing her betrayal. As Crimsonheart left to confront Naricain, the traveler confronted Dr. Jang, who revealed that she followed Naricain because she truly believed that he was right to erase evil, and that he deserved the Antellion after everything that he had suffered. After explaining that Naricain was the only person who wanted her, the traveler quickly realized that Dr. Jang had fallen in love with Naricain after seeing her own loneliness in him. In an effort to convince the traveler to side with Naricain, Dr. Jang trapped them in a simulation of Naricain's memories, where they witnessed Naricain's youth on Versal, where many sought to claim the Antellion while Crimsonheart and the Grandmasters were away aiding other worlds.
The traveler learned that Subani, in his youth, was timid and fearful, while Naricain was confident and powerful, thougb both sought to become stronger in order to protect their mother, Glona. With their strong bond, the two brothers remained Crimsonheart's two candidates for succeeding him as the Antellion's protector. Eventually, however, thieves arrived to claim the Antellion while Crimsonheart had been away. With Subani too terrified to fight, and Lukan injured, Glona sacrificed herself to create a protective barrier around them and the Antellion, just as Narician arrived and angrily used dark magic to kill the thieves. As Crimsonheart returned, Naricain blamed his father for Glona's death, after which he grew obsessed with ending the evil which had taken his mother's life by using the Antellion's power. Over the decades, Naricain became a thorn in the Grandmasters' side as he grew stronger every day, though Crimsonheart still refused to fight his son. After Naricain stole a piece of the Antellion, which had never been done in history, Crimsonheart decided to move the Antellion to the remote world of Maple World in order to stop Naricain from claiming it. In the end, however, Naricain attacked his other foster siblings on Versal and learned where Crimsonheart had taken the Antellion, after which he used the Antellion fragment to chase after his father on Maple World. After learning about Naricain's past, the traveler - though sympathetic to his suffering - nevertheless remained resolved that Naricain was a villain. Realizing that she couldn't convince them, Dr. Jang decided to stop them by using her ultimate weapon.
Act 4: The Fall of Crimsonwood
The traveler fought against Dr. Jang and destroyed her ultimate weapon, leaving her no choice but to use her failsafe and detonate the bomb that she had implanted into herself in the event that she failed to stop them. However, Lukan quickly arrived and killed Dr. Jang before she could activate the bomb. The pair then reinforced Crimsonheart and fought against Naricain, who was furious to learn about the death of his beloved. Nevertheless, they were able to work together and seal Naricain into a statue, which Crimsonheart banished into a realm beyond space and time to ensure that Naricain would never return. After escaping the Keep, Crimsonheart, the traveler, Lukan, Numenal, and the surviving soldiers of the Keep met up with Delgrund and the surviving Krakians at Olde Sapp Village, a Krakian settlement at the center of the continent.
With Krakia corrupted by Dr. Jang's compound, Crimsonheart sent Delgrund and the surviving Krakians to a hidden and safe part of Maple World to begin again, with Delgrund swearing to watch over them. Crimsonheart then sent Numenal and the surviving Versalians back to Versal, where he tasked Numenal with leading their people and watching over his foster children. Finally, Crimsonheart sent the traveler and Lukan back to the present, with Lukan being tasked with protecting the Antellion fragment in the present that still powered the Time Portal. Having sorted all his affairs, Crimsonheart destroyed the Antellion and sacrificed himself to sink the continent into the sea. Back in the present, Lukan and the traveler were shocked to find that Masteria had, despite Crimsonheart's sacrifice, somehow risen from the ocean once again. With the Masteria Research Team arriving to investigate the Keep under the leadership of Dr. Yoon, Lukan took the Antellion fragment and left, while the researchers began questioning the traveler and recognized their name from a log that Grandmaster Lireni had left behind a thousand years ago.
