Our leader who commands Akatsuki, whose true name is Matsuyama Sakuno.
She is the head of the Matsuyama family, who once fought against the evil forces led by Oda Nobunaga in our original world, Hinomaru, where Akatsuki was first formed. Even after both Akatsuki and the Oda Army were transferred to Zipangu in Maple World due to a certain incident, she continues to lead our forces and carry on her destined struggle against the Oda Army.
She possesses the grace and dignity befitting the title of Princess, and Akatsuki offers her unwavering respect and loyalty.
Beyond her character and virtue, she possesses the courage to sacrifice herself for justice. As such, our respect and devotion to her remain absolute.
The Maple Alliance, recognizing the Princess's resolve and sincerity, has also formed an alliance with Akatsuki and now pursues Oda Nobunaga alongside us.
In turn, Akatsuki considers the Maple Alliance's enemies to be our own and lends them our strength.
Akatsuki has overcome countless trials and come this far, thanks entirely to the Princess.
If given the chance, I would like to formally pay my respects to Her Highness by saying, "Akatsuki is a gift bestowed upon the Alliance.

Story

Childhood

Sakuno was the eldest daughter of Matsuyama Nobukane, the head of the Matsuyama clan. Though she was unaware of it, the Matsuyama bloodline left her in possession of a tremendous font of an extremely special type of mana, which could sometimes take a physical form that allowed for moving objects as large as continents through spacetime. In her youth, Sakuno was close with Hayato, whose family was retainer to her clan. Sakuno was also friends with Kanna, who had moved into Matsuyama land during childhood, though she left soon after in order to become a Spirit Walker. Sakuno was especially close with Ayame, who came into the service of her father after leaving Princess No. As the battle against Oda Nobunaga raged on, Ayame was frequently sent on missions by Nobukane to spy on his wife, Princess No, as she trusted Ayame.

Battle at Honnou-ji

Following Oda's orders, Mori Ranmaru commanded Akechi Mitsuhide to wipe out the Matsuyama clan and kidnap Princess Sakuno, as the special mana which she possessed that allowed for manipulating spacetime was necessary for a ritual to open a portal to the Demon Skies, from which Oda hoped to fuse with the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. After learning about the ritual, an alliance of the three great lords, Mouri Motonari, Uesugi Kenshin, and Takeda Shingen, led their armies to Honnou-ji Temple in order to stop the ritual. Unbeknownst to her, Sakuno's three childhood friends, Ayame, Kanna, and Hayato, were working to stop the ritual. After Kanna bested Mori Ranmaru and destroyed the altar, Sakuno regained consciousness and severed the link to the Demon Realm, warping the gate and transporting large swaths of Hinomaru to Maple World.

An Unfamiliar World

The abrupt transportation resulted in the Sengoku Warriors, Oda's army, and Honnou-ji Temple itself, being teleported to Zipangu. As the Sengoku Warriors struggled to quickly establish a base for themselves. Sakuno was held captive inside the Oda base. Eventually, the Sengoku Warriors successfully launched an operation to rescue Princess Sakuno from the Oda camp. As the new head of the Matsuyama clan, Sakuno took upon the mantle of leadership, with the Daimyos hoping that her charisma and wisdom would help them in their struggle to defeat Oda and return home. Having become aware of the special mana within herself, Sakuno secretly began teaching herself how to wield it in preparation for her fated confrontation with Oda.

Over time, the Sengoku Warriors established a foothold in Maple World and began making allies, eventually joining the Maple Alliance. During their investigations, they learned that Oda had allied himself with the Black Wings, and that he was corrupting monsters across Maple World. They also discovered that Mori Ranmaru was secretly planning another ritual for an unknown purpose. Sakuno immediately dispatched her forces to deal with the threats, allowing them to discover that it was actually Akechi Mitsuhide who was working with the Black Wings, having betrayed Oda.

Eventually, Sakuno learned of an opportunity to take Honnou-ji Temple - Oda's seat of power. Her operation to take Honnou-ji Temple was successful, but though they managed to defeat Takigawa Kazumasu, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, they learned that Oda had already abandoned Honnou-ji after having drained all its spiritual power. Sakuno then spread her forces in order to discover the location of Oda's new base.

Hieizan Temple

A traveler was summoned to Momijigaoka, where Sakuno met with them and explained that Ayame had recently arrived at the base. With Ayame's help, the traveler infiltrated Hieizan Temple, where they discovered that Princess No was conducting a ritual to open a link to the Demon Realm for Oda. To everyone's surprise, the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven claimed that Princess No was too weak for him to possess, though he augmented her power as a gift for having summoned him. The traveler then defeated Princess No and her minions, putting an end to her plan.

The Asura Crisis

Learning that Oda had created a new base and was planning to conduct another ritual to become the Demon King, Akechi Mitsuhide disguised himself as a wandering warrior named Kengo and leaked information about Fort Asura. Realizing that they were on the precipice of war, Sakuno immediately called back all her forces in preparation. As the Sengoku Warriors were sent on missions to destroy the altars which the Oda Spirit Walkers were using to drain mana from the monsters of Maple World, Kengo discovered the hidden location of Fort Asura. However, Sakuno was hesitant to launch an attack, as she feared losing her people. Having spent years secretly training to use her special mana, Sakuno struck a deal with Kengo - whom she already knew to be Akechi Mitsuhide - and asked him to prevent the Sengoku Warriors from stopping her from facing Oda alone.

Sakuno then disappeared in the middle of the night and headed for Fort Asura, where Oda was amused to see that she had come of her own volition. He then revealed that the ritual to open a portal to the Demon Realm was already taking place, and that her presence was the final element. Oda then absorbed around half of the the Demon King's power and used it to fight against Sakuno and her own mana. The Sengoku Warriors then arrived, having defied Sakuno's orders to not interfere, and the traveler who had helped at Hieizan Temple began fighting Akechi Mitsuhide, who was following Sakuno's orders to prevent interference. After the traveler defeated him, they realized that the collision of Sakuno and Oda's mana would result in an explosion that would kill them both, to which Sakuno revealed that she was planning to sacrifice herself. However, the traveler risked their life to pull Sakuno out of the mana vortex, saving her life and severely injuring Oda, who retreated after being convinced to cut his losses by Niwa Nagahide.

Some time later, Sakuno met with Akechi and told him that she would grant him clemency for his help, though she vowed that she would one day come for his head as revenge for him wiping out her clan. Meanwhile, Tsuchimikado Haruaki took the traveler to see Asia, who revealed that Oda had gained a portion of Sakuno's special mana after the first ritual had been disrupted, and that the traveler had gained a portion of her mana when the second ritual had been disrupted, meaning that the traveler had also become a potential sacrifice for Oda's future attempts at claiming the other half of the Demon King's power.
