Shanghai is an area in The Far East based on the city in China of the same name. The beautiful night city of Shanghai, once bustling with noise and excitement, found itself under dark clouds one day. The sky was so thick with clouds that it was hard to tell day from night, and the clouds wouldn't disappear. While the residents began to think that Shanghai was no longer habitable, Shanghai's famous bright lights became even more famous, with young tourists flocking to witness this unique phenomenon. As a result, the residents became more concerned with making the place more attractive to tourists than with the clouds not disappearing. However, strange occurrences started to happen: objects started to move on their own, the nearby farm animals started going berserk, and jiangshi started to appear. It is up to you to help the city return to a sense of normalcy.

In ChinaMS, GlobalMS, and MapleSEA, this region can be accessed via Shanghai Interdimensional Portal at Six Path Crossway. It is divided into 3 sections: Nanjing Road, Outskirts of Shanghai, and The Bund. Mount Song is accessible from Mount Song Pathway in the Outskirts of Shanghai.

Completing the questline in this region will unlock more Daily Quests as you progress, up to 5 Daily Quests, which reward Yu Garden Coins. These coins can be used to purchase various items from Feng Shao, Liuyi, or to receive a random buff from Suan Ming. In ChinaMS, players can also purchase the Medal Yu Garden Guardian from Liuyi for 120 Yu Garden Coins.

• Shanghai Wai-Tan, the predecessor of this region, was available as ChinaMS's World Tour map, which was also available in KoreaMS, JapanMS, MapleSEA, and TaiwanMS.
• In ChinaMS and GlobalMS, the BGM in the Outskirts of Shanghai is the same as the BGM used in Ximending.
  • JapanMS and MapleSEA use a unique BGM in its place.
