Shaolin Temple is an area in The Far East based on the monastic institution in Henan Province, China of the same name. It is a monastery where various monks study and practice martial arts. With the recent activity of demonic creatures throughout the Shaolin Area, Elder Jung of Mount Song requests that you help the Wise Chief Priest investigate the demons that have taken up residence inside the Sutra Depository. While helping the Wise Chief Priest, you learn that Shaolin Temple is about to face a catastrophe, and it is up to you to save Shaolin Temple.

This region can be accessed on foot from Mount Song's Temple Plaza. It only has one section: Sutra Depository.

Completing the questline will reward the Medal  Shaolin Temple Savior and unlock access to the Chief Priest Boss Battle by talking to Haifeng Fashi; players can also talk to him to teleport to any floor in the Sutra Depository. You will unlock quests from Zarak which require you to gather Demon Orbs from the monsters throughout Mount Song and Shaolin Temple and grant  Zarak's Boxes as rewards. These boxes can reward items such as  Spell Traces, Epic Potential Scroll 50%, and Hunter's Luck. The boss Chief Priest can drop Level 125 Fearless Equipment and the  Nine-Tailed Fox Totem. Players can also talk to Haifeng Fashi and receive the  Nine-Tailed Fox Damage Skin after eliminating the Chief Priest 30 times, and the  Demon Jar Chair after eliminating the Chief Priest 50 times.

Trivia

• The original version of both Mount Song and Shaolin Temple were available as ChinaMS's secondary World Tour region. However, it was not connected to Shanghai Wai-Tan, and could only be accessed via Spinel. These two areas were also available in JapanMS and TaiwanMS, but in alternate forms.
  • The original ChinaMS variation of Mount Song had monsters Level 120 - 130, with higher HP than most other monsters in their level range. It also contained the Martial Artist boss, who could be fought once a day. He was Level 150 with 80,000,000 (80 million) HP and 24,000,000 (24 million) EXP, but your party only had 10 minutes to defeat him.
  • The JapanMS variation of Mount Song had monsters Level 75 - 105, with the Wooden Fish being present in Shaolin Temple instead of Mount Song. In addition, the Martial Artist boss was unavailable, with the Golden Giant instead serving as a free-spawning area boss. It was Level 130 with 85,000,000 (85 million) HP and 5,000,000 (5 million) EXP.
  • The TaiwanMS variation of Mount Song had monsters Level 50 - 60, with the two Giants being lower level than the Bronze Staffman / Silver Spearman. The Martial Artist boss was also Level 80 with 300,000 (300 thousand) HP and 300,000 (300 thousand) EXP.
• With the revamped version of Shaolin Temple, the Martial Artist boss was replaced with the Chief Priest. However, GMS uses both the Martial Artist and the Chief Priest in the Maple Tour: Shanghai - Mount Song Studio dungeon.
• The original version of Shaolin Temple also had a map called Pagoda Forest, which was based on the real-life cemetery for Buddhist Monks of the same name.
• In the original version of Shaolin Temple, the Sutra Depository also had an exclusive BGM, which is now unused:
