This city is nestled in the shadows of Victoria Island, where dazzling neon signs coexist with dark, gloomy back alleys.
On the surface, it appears lively, but beneath the city, secret organizations and thieves operate. All manner of rumors and conspiracies swirl about.
Thieves who seek true power in darkness hone their skills here.

Kerning City is an area in western Victoria Island. It is an urban ghetto-type city, with graffiti and vandalism clearly visible. The city features a mass subway system under construction which is infested with monsters, as well as a swamp area accessed via the sewers. Explorer Beginners can choose to become Thieves here by talking to the Dark Lord in the Thieves' Hideout.

The city can be accessed on foot via Six Path Crossway, as well as via the Regular Cab in Victoria available in all major Victoria Island towns. It is divided into three sections: Construction Site, a construction area overtaken by Octopi and watched over by the mysterious Chun Ji, Kerning City Subway, a mass subway system which is haunted by wraith monsters, as well as the Swamp Region, a home to Jr. Necki, Croco type monsters, and monsters created with magic, such as Muddy Swamp Monster and the overgrown Dyle.

In addition to having field maps, one can take the subway to Kerning Tower, or use it to access Construction Site B1, B2, or B3. The Secret Garden, home of the Dual Blades, can also be accessed from a back alley in town.

Completing JM From tha Streetz's quest Swamp Region Troubleshooter, which requires completing the main Kerning City quests in the area, will reward the Medal  Swamp Region Troubleshooter. One field boss can be encountered here: Dyle, a giant crocodile that has been accidentally mutated through magic by Lakelis.

• "Kerning" is coincidentally a term used in typography. Likewise, "Ellinia" is similar to the term Alinea.
• "Kerning" is also a romanization of the Korean transliteration of "커닝" from the term "Cunning", referring to the thief theme.
  • This is corroborated by the direction sign in Station to Orbis spelling "ΚΥΝΝΙΒΓ" (Kunnibg in English)
