Nightmare Paradise is the third Epic Dungeon content, located near the Arteria region. To participate, talk to Selazar in Operations Center.

Stages

Nightmare Paradise is a weekly dungeon that consists of seven stages[1], with a one hour time limit to complete each stage. The dungeon has a pattern of several stages, with the fifth and seventh stages being boss stages. These stages must be completed in order, although the player may leave and re-enter between stages.

The Tiger Slash skill is available for use in every stage at the cost of 200 Divine Energy, which can be gathered by defeating monsters and attacking bosses. Almost all stages will require the use of Tiger Slash to proceed. When used, it will prompt a QTE (Quick Time Event) where the player must hit the numbers/letters shown in order (which order it starts does not matter as long as it's the first in line). The numbers and letter combinations will have the following groups, meaning the QTEs will require either 2 or 4 inputs from each group:

  • 1 2 3 4
  • Q W E R
  • A S D F
  • Z X C V

Stage 1 & 3: Talismans

Three pairs of talismans are on the map. The player must defeat monsters to gather enough Divine Energy, then get close to the talismans and use Tiger Slash to destroy them. Once all talismans are destroyed, the stage is cleared. In Stage 3, a Contaminated Wolf will be summoned as a mini boss, which the player must defeat before proceeding.

Stage 2: Contaminated Shensung

Contaminated Shensung will appear as a mini boss, and the player must defeat him. Once his HP is reduced to 30%, he will spawn two rounds of clones of himself. The player must locate the real Shensung and use Tiger Slash on him. The real Shensung can be distinguished from his clones by the blue talisman on the center of his robes and three gold rings on his tail. Once Shensung has been attacked twice, the stage is cleared.

Stage 4: Flying

The player must collect 500 Divine Energy and then go over to the small light on the right to activate the Nimbus Cloud and fly across the waterfall to the far right side of the map. The player must avoid the Contaminated Bats and Owls flying around and the Contaminated Rocks blocking the way to reach the right side. Tiger Slash can be used to destroy the rocks. Once the minigame is cleared, Contaminated Shensung will appear again, and he must be defeated for the stage to be cleared. It is recommended to kill him as fast as possible since he will only appear for 20 seconds, after which he will teleport to the left side of the map; if this occurs, players will have to farm 500 Divine Energy again and fly to the far left side of the map to finish him off.

Stage 5: Contaminated Ara

Defeat Contaminated Ara to clear the stage. Using Tiger Slash when she is in the middle of preparing an attack will deal heavy damage and cancel the attack, and successfully doing this 3 times will stun her.

Stage 6: Key

The player must take the key to the top of the map. Divine Energy must be collected to pull the key in the player's direction, provided they aren't too far from the key; the amount of energy consumed is based on distance. Contaminated Rocks will fall from the top of the map towards the bottom. Players getting hit by a rock will be stunned and pushed downward slightly, while the key getting hit will cause it to sink downward. Tiger Slash can be used to destroy theses Rocks. Glowing orbs will also be scattered around the map that the player can collect to obtain 500 energy. Once the key is at the top of the map, the stage is cleared.

Stage 7: Contaminated Zigang

Attack the Contaminated Lantern in the center of the map to gain Divine Energy, and use Tiger Slash to destroy it and summon Contaminated Zigang as the final boss of the dungeon. To the right of the timer and death count UI is a scroll with four pieces, and all four pieces need to be filled for Zigang to be defeated. If Zigang's health is depleted, it will add one scroll piece to the scroll and then refill his health bar back to full provided that there are still empty pieces to be filled. Much like Contaminated Ara, if Tiger Slash is used as he is preparing an attack (this time visually indicated with a purple shield around him), it will deal heavy damage, and 3 successful hits in this state will stun him, as well as add one scroll piece. When enough time has passed, Contaminated Zigang will send the player to an unknown area where they are able to fly. After avoiding a set of patterns in there, a QTE will be prompted, and if the player successfully clears, it will also add one scroll piece, and if there's still pieces to be filled, the player will return to the boss room with Zigang stunned.

Rewards

Upon completing Epic Dungeon: Nightmare Paradise, you can talk to Selazar to receive your rewards. You will obtain EXP based on your character's level and other rewards.

Players may choose to spend 10,000 Maple Points[2] to auto-complete the Epic Dungeon and receive the basic rewards immediately. Alternatively, players at MVP Red rank or VIP Diamond tier and above can auto-complete the Epic Dungeon for free once a week.

Players may also choose between either the EXP Bonus Reward or the Sol Erda Bonus Reward. Paying 12,500 Maple Points yields a 4x bonus (for a total of 5x the chosen reward type), or 50,000 Maple Points yields an 8x bonus (for a total of 9x the chosen reward type).

In all servers other than KMS and GMS, players may choose either the EXP Bonus Reward or Sol Erda Bonus Reward up to 10 times per reward type. Paying Maple Points[3] yields a randomly chosen bonus of 0.5x, 1x, 3x, or 10x the base amount for the chosen reward type. Each Bonus Reward purchase fills up the respective fever gauge for that bonus type by 25%, and doubles the reward bonus on the next purchase of the reward type once the fever gauge is full. This results in a randomly selected amount of 1x, 2x, 6x, or 20x the base amount on every fifth purchase.

The rewards are listed per region as follows. Any rewards that are not increased via the Bonus Reward or Special Bonus Reward will only have the Base Reward listed.

  • Sol Erda (Untradable, 30 Day Duration)

Story

For information on the full story, visit this page.

Following the invasion of Shangri-La, the six traitorous elders - Shensung the monkey elder, Maolang the rabbit elder, Chenyuan the dragon elder, Yinshuai the tiger elder, Xula the dog elder, and Youzhen the rooster elder - escaped the realm of the sages with a captured Baekyeon and Ara. In a hidden research laboratory, the elders worked alongside an Apostle of Darmoor named Ymir to conduct an experiment on Baekyeon for Darmoor. Using Ymir's illusion magic, Baekyeon was placed in a nightmare in which he found himself in the burning ruins of Kunlun, the mountain range where the original hanging scroll that led to Shangri-La was sealed away. Unaware that he was trapped in a nightmare, Baekyeon hoped to find the Scroll of Purification in order to cleanse the contamination that threatened to spread into the outside world. During his mission, Baekyeon faced off against Shensung, who entreated Baekyeon to embrace the power of the contamination, which Baekyeon believed the traitorous elders hoped to spread into the outside world. After Shensung was killed, his heavenly power was absorbed by Zigang, who awaited Baekyeon at the hidden pavilion where the scroll lay.

While attempting to obtain the key to the scroll, Baekyeon faced a contaminated Ara, who had killed both Gaon and Shuli. After fighting Ara, Baekyeon's words helped Ara come to her senses before she asked him to kill her and take the key she had absorbed into her body. As Baekyeon reflected on killing Shensung and Ara, his doubts about betraying his duty as one of the Four Symbols caused his inner contamination to eat away at him, though his strong will allowed him to resist and push forward. In the pavilion, Baekyeon faced off against Zigang, who had absorbed the power of the elders and the fallen Symbols. After Baekyeon defeated Zigang, he discovered that the scroll was unable to purify the contamination, but instead was a failsafe that would destroy Shangri-La and everyone inside it, including him. Though Zigang promised to revive his fallen comrades if Baekyeon accepted the contamination, Baekyeon vowed to uphold the memory of his comrades by sacrificing his existence to stop the contamination from reaching the outside world. Though Baekyeon believed himself to be dead, he instead awoke from his nightmare, with the elders congratulating him for surviving the culling. Ymir - an Apostle with pointed ears who wielded Flora mytocrystal magic and possessed a divine halo - noted in satisfaction that the experiment was a success for Darmoor. After noticing Baekyeon staring angrily at her, Ymir taunted him by reminding him that without a Godsphere, she could not be harmed. Baekyeon was then placed back to sleep, forced to relive his nightmare endlessly.
