Deep in the El Nath Mountains, this lonely castle sits atop a rocky peak. It was once home to a hearty people who thrived even amidst the bone-chilling cold, but its once-grand halls now lie in ruin.
Only the Lion King, a man who has lost everything, remains in the gloom-filled audience chamber.

Lion King's Castle is a theme dungeon in Ossyria's El Nath Mts. region, and is the palace of Von Leon, the weary former-king of the castle and one of the Black Mage's Commanders. Dark energy can be felt from the icy castle, and each tower is blocked to prevent exploration. You will have to make your way through the castle and learn the truth about it. The Escape Party Quest is located near this area.

This region can be accessed on foot via Sharp Cliff 4 near El Nath's Dead Mine, as well as via the Danger Zone Taxi in El Nath for 45,000 Mesos. It is divided into two sections: Castle Ramparts as the main area and Rose Garden as a sub-area, and you slowly gain access to all maps as you progress through the questline. The Rose Garden also contains a Star Force area called the Hidden Garden, consisting of three maps which require 45 and 50 Star Force or higher, but these maps can only be accessed after unlocking access to the Rose Garden. The Major Boss Von Leon can be fought here. In addition, a couple of smaller bosses can be encountered during the questline: Prison Guard Ani, a turtle-like creature that appeared with the dark energy, and King Castle Golem, a giant golem that is causing destruction in the Rose Garden.

Completing the main Lion King's Castle questline will reward the Medal  Heart of a Lion and unlock access to the Von Leon Boss Battle for all characters within the same world. Completing the Rose Garden questline unlocks Daily Quests which grant  Rose Garden Boxes, up to 8 per day. These boxes reward various consumables and Ifia Accessories, 10 of which can be exchanged for the Ring  Noble Ifia's Ring. Completing Cecilia's quest Rose Knight, which requires completing the Rose Garden Daily Quests a total of 15 times (up to 3 per day) will reward the Medal  Rose Knight.

Defeating Von Leon allows players to obtain the following:

•  Royal Lion King Medals, which can be used to purchase the Level 130 Royal Von Leon Set from Murt in Second Tower (Easy and Normal mode only)
• Level 130 Royal Von Leon Equipment (Hard mode only)
• Level 110 Ifia Accessories (Hard mode only)

Story

An Alliance member was called to the Lion King's Castle by the Resistance agent J, who had been dispatched to investigate Von Leon. After breaking through the castle towers, the Alliance member and J encountered the ghosts of Luden, Von Leon's chief knight. As J was unable to see Luden, he tasked the Alliance member with interrogating Luden while he investigated the rest of the castle. The Alliance member learned from Luden that Von Leon had once been a good king, for which he asked the Alliance member to help him return Von Leon to the right side. He asked them to speak with the ghost of his beloved wife, Ifia, believing that only she could reach the king's heart. The Alliance member met with Ifia, who believed that Von Leon had forgotten about her, as he had ignored her cries for centuries. In order to help reunite them, the Alliance member met with Von Leon, who refused to believe that Ifia's spirit dwelled in the castle, claiming that he would have known if she still lingered. Nevertheless, the Alliance member continued presenting him with evidence that only Ifia had known about, forcing him to believe that they were telling the truth. When the Alliance member brought Ifia's ghost before him, Von Leon was unable to see her and believed that it was his punishment for having sold his soul to the Black Mage. Defeated, he gave them a pendant containing Ifia's face, claiming that he didn't deserve her memory.

Wondering how Von Leon had fallen so far, the Alliance member spoke with Luden and learned that when the Anti-Black Mage Coalition from centuries ago had asked him to stand with them, Von Leon had refused, believing that it would needlessly paint a target on his kingdom when they had nothing worth taking. Mistakenly taking his lack of action as proof that he had sided with the Black Mage, the coalition had destroyed his castle and killed his wife. Driven to despair, Von Leon had sworn loyalty to the Black Mage in order to get his revenge on the ones who had taken everything from him. The Alliance member reported their findings to J, who revealed that the strangely aggressive actions of the coalition didn't make sense, as attacking Von Leon's castle had completely wiped out their already-small numbers. He revealed that his investigation had allowed him to discover several strange totems with the power to drive one to insanity, causing him to believe that someone had used the totems to magically brainwash the coalition into mindlessly attacking the castle.

Trivia

• The Lion King's Castle is visible in the background of a few maps in the Dead Mine, which was present since the Dead Mine's release prior to the Big Bang Update. However, the castle was not accessible until the release of the Lion King's Castle a few months after the Big Bang Update.
• When the Lion King's Castle was first released, it was a Party Play Zone where players received 50% additional experience per party member. The monsters were Level 115 - 127 at the time (unchanged to this day). Each monster in the Castle Ramparts had HP ranging from 7,400,000 (7.4 million) to 12,500,000 (12.5 million), and base EXP ranging from 48,376 to 58,285. This area became one of the most popular hunting grounds as a result.
  • In most servers, the monster stats were nerfed to have regular HP and EXP as of the Jump! / Ascension Update due to the release of Monster Park which served as a new Party Play Zone.
    • GMS retained the high HP and EXP until the Unleashed Update.
• During the area's initial release, players would obtain special equipment by collecting Lion King Medals dropped by Von Leon, and combining them with 50  Purification Totems to obtain 1 Noble Lion King Medal, or 100  Purification Totems to obtain 1  Royal Lion King Medal. These purified Lion King Medals could be exchanged for Level 120 Von Leon Equipment via Murt:

• As of the Coordinator's Touch: Star Force Update, the Level 120 and Level 125 Von Leon Sets were replaced with the Level 130 Royal Von Leon Set, though players can still obtain them via Sealed Boxes.
