World Archive

An ancient village nestled deep within Minar Forest, Leafre is a sacred land where dragons and Halflingers coexist. The air here is filled with the breath of ancient dragons, and the sky still bears traces of massive nests and dragons long past. The Halflingers live alongside dragons while tending to the forest, passing down their wisdom and way of life from generation to generation. This region is a blend of mountains, forests, and ancient dragon ruins. Hunting grounds, such as Dragon Canyon, are home to a wide variety of dragon monsters.

Leafre is an area in Ossyria's Minar Forest region. It is a town that's home to Halflingers, a species of furry humanoids that watch over the dragons of Minar and their eggs, with large dragon eggs scattered throughout the town. Any Halflingers with dragon eggs are to make sure that they are kept warm and safe. Chief Tatamo is the leading elder of the town.

Leafre was once home to the Onyx Dragons, powerful yet peaceful creatures. The Black Mage wanted the Onyx Dragons to help in his invasion of the Maple World, but the Onyx Dragons refused. In response, the Black Mage killed all the Onyx Dragons, leaving Afrien, the leader of the Onyx Dragons, as the sole survivor. Afrien left an egg for a Silent Crusader who wandered into the past to retrieve, and made sure the egg was safe in Victoria Island.

Aside from exterior forces, Leafre also faced internal conflict in the past. Long ago, the dragon chief Nine Spirit was attacked by Horntail, an evil three-headed dragon who assembled an army to instigate the historically-known Dragon War. While Nine Spirit stood its ground, Horntail broke the pact between the Halflingers and dragons by attacking the village and stealing Nine Spirit's egg, and ultimately conquered the forest. The Demons also once lived in the town, but due to them joining forces with the Black Mage, they were forced out of the town and had to live in Tynerum in exile.

This region can be accessed via airship by talking to Ramini the Crewmember at Orbis's Cabin to Leafre, or by dragon flight from the Temple of Time. It is surrounded by Leafre Forest to the east and west, where entrances to the Stone Colossus Exploration Site and Kritias can be found, and the Dragon Forest to the far south, which continues westward into the Wyvern Canyon and Dragon Nest. Leafre Forest contains five Star Force maps, two of which require 5 Star Force or higher and three of which require 15 Star Force or higher. The Dragon Nest also contains five Star Force maps, three of which require 65 Star Force or higher and two of which require 70 Star Force or higher. Beyond the Dragon Nest is the Cave of Life where the evil Horntail resides as he recovers his wounds and plots to use Nine Spirit's Egg to take over regions beyond Leafre.

The Major Boss Horntail can be fought here. In addition, four field bosses can be encountered here: Manon, a giant red dragon that carries an egg around, Griffey; a strange creature with the body of a unicorn, the wings of an eagle, and the tail of a lion; Master Birk, the vicious leader of the Birks; and Leviathan, the leader of the Wyverns and a loyal servant to Horntail. Explorers can also receive their 4th Job Advancements (or players who have already received 4th Job Advancement can initiate a Job change with Open Advancement) in the Forest of the Priest, located to the south of town.

Defeating Horntail allows players to obtain the following:

• The Earrings  Dea Sidus Earring, which is part of the Boss Accessory Set
• The Ring  Silver Blossom Ring, which is part of the Boss Accessory Set
• The Pendant  Horntail Necklace, which is part of the Boss Accessory Set (Easy and Normal mode only)
• The Pendant  Chaos Horntail Necklace, which is part of the Boss Accessory Set (Chaos mode only)
