According to a friend in the Thunder Breaker unit, he has a down-to-earth personality and treats the Thunder Breakers as friends. However, when he enters battle, he becomes a completely different person, sweeping away enemies with the power of the sea and lightning, earning everyone's respect.”
- ― Chronicler Q
Hawkeye is the Chief Knight of Lightning and the Thunder Breaker instructor.
Story
Becoming the Chief Knight of Lightning
Hawkeye was born into a wealthy family who had several businesses, with their major enterprise being a trading company in Lith Harbor, the site of their headquarters. Growing up, Hawkeye's grandfather would frequently claim that Hawkeye would take the family to new heights with his "unique view of the world". Despite being rich and pampered, Hawkeye put in a great deal of effort into helping grow the family business, frequently meeting many people on trips and parties. However, he quickly learned that the smiles on the faces of everyone around him were fake, as they only saw him as a money-making machine. With no friends and longing for freedom, Hawkeye ran away from home and changed his name to "Hawkeye". Having loved the sea since childhood, despite his family only seeing it as an avenue of wealth for their shipping business, Hawkeye traveled by sea across the world and met many people on his adventures. Eventually, he came to realize that many people around him didn't have the same kind of freedom that he possessed, and in order to give that freedom to others, he decided to join the Cygnus Knights, believing that he could make a difference in the world, while also meeting new people.
Over time, the Cygnus Knights continued to grow, with several other Knights - Irena, Oz, and Eckhart - being recruited. Along with Mihile, the five of them investigated unusual behavior of Drakes in Sleepywood, which had gone berserk. In Sleepywood, the Knights were shocked to find the Drakes rampaging around the town. Hawkeye noted that the Drakes rarely emerged from their caves, which meant that they were either hungry or there was some problem with their territory. He also speculated that someone may have lured the Drakes into town on purpose. Eckhart immediately teleported over and began fighting the Drakes on the flat grounds of the town. The rest of the Knights then began evacuating the townspeople, after which they decided to split up and take care of the five Drake subspecies. Hawkeye suspected that Eckhart was taking care of the Dark Drakes in the caves. He explained that, contrary to their names, Dark Drakes used electricity, which made them less than ideal for him to fight. Mihile then ordered Oz to protect the townspeople from the Copper Drakes before tasking Hawkeye and Irena to eliminate the Ice Drakes and Red Drakes, respectively.
With everyone given their assignment, Mihile headed into the caves and took care of the frenzied Drakes. On his way out, however, he discovered a strange scale that emitted a purple gas. Believing that it was a clue, he decided to take it with him. Back in town, he rendezvoused with Oz, Hawkeye, and Irena, who all reported that the monsters in the caves were coming back to their senses. Irena wondered why the Drakes would act up when they weren't particularly intelligent creatures, to which Mihile explained that he had found a potential clue. As they prepared to head back to Ereve, Oz wondered where Eckhart was when the Night Walker suddenly revealed himself from the shadows. Back in Ereve, the five Knights reported their success to Neinheart and noted their concerns about the Drakes' abnormal behavior. Neinheart suspected that the Drakes' behavior was related to a related incident in Henesys, in which the Golems had started behaving erratically too. Mihile then presented the strange scale to Neinheart and explained that it seemed to have poison powder. Neinheart grew thoughtful and noted that it warranted its own investigation before congratulating the Knights on their successful mission.
Soon after, Hawkeye received an emergency telegram from Neinheart, who who ordered all knights to return to Ereve immediately. Hawkeye rushed to Ereve and met with Neinheart and the other senior Knights. Neinheart explained that several Cygnus Knights had inexplicably begun to turn on each other, as though they had been bewitched. Hawkeye noted that it seemed as though someone wanted to cause a division amongst them, causing Eckhart to wonder whether the perpetrators were spies. Neinheart told them that he believed otherwise, adding that Shinsoo was doing what she could to keep the rest of the knights pacified. Mihile then asked him where Cygnus was, to which Neinheart regrettably replied that he had lost sight of her. He then tasked the Knights with defeating the wayward knights and rescuing the Empress. While the other Knights defeated the ensorcelled knights of their respective divisions, Hawkeye fought through the bewitched Thunder Breakers. After Mihile saved the Empress, Neinheart noted that the same thing which had happened to the Drakes had happened to the Knights, concluding that the same person had been responsible for both. He added that only the Black Wings would attack them so brazenly, but nevertheless, he expressed his relief that the crisis was over. With the situation resolved, Neinheart and Cygnus announced that they were planning to name the five Chief Knights who would lead each division of the Cygnus Knights. Cygnus then appointed each knight and blessed them with the power of an elemental spirit. Hawkeye was then Chief Knight of Lightning and led the Thunder Breakers with the power of Fulgar.
Some time after their appointments, Hawkeye asked Oz to deliver a letter to his parents' house in Lith Harbor. However, Oz asked Mihile to deliver the letter instead. After delivering the letter, Mihile turned to leave when a steward named Edmunds called after him, mistaking him for the young master. After learning that Mihile wasn't who he thought, Edmunds apologized and explained that the young master of their home had left several years ago and hadn't written since, though the seal on Hawkeye's letter had given him hope. As Mihile began to head back, he ran into Hawkeye, who nervously asked him why he was in the area. Upon learning that Oz had asked Mihile to send the letter, Hawkeye reluctantly decided to reveal the truth. He explained that the house was his family home and that he had grown up rich and pampered. Early on, he had discovered how artificial his life was, with fake smiles and niceties all around. With no friends, he had grown to love the ocean, though his family had only seen it as a path to riches for their shipping business. Unable to handle his life, he had run away and had become a Cygnus Knight to give freedom to those who had none. Hawkeye explained that after becoming a Chief Knight, he had written to his family to let them know where he had been, and that he had asked Oz to deliver it for him, though he hadn't expected her to dump it on Mihile. He then asked Mihile to keep it to himself, as he feared that Neinheart would involve his family in the Cygnus Knights if he were to know about their affluence. Hawkeye then asked Mihile to speak with Eckhart, who seemed quite out of place with the others. After Mihile agreed, Hawkeye told him to go to El Nath, where Eckhart spent a lot of his time.
Hilla's Deception[5]
In order to destabilize Cygnus's legitimacy as the Empress, Hilla posed as a noblewoman and publicly made a claim that she was the true heir to Ereve. With Shinsoo away for unknown reasons, an emergency conference was held in Ereve, where Hilla would testify for her right to the throne. Irena - alongside the other Chief Knights - attended the conference and listened as Hilla claimed to be the descendant of Empress Aria by presenting Skaia, the treasure of Ereve. Hawkeye argued on behalf of Cygnus, claiming that that jewels could easily be forged, but Hilla countered by telling him that, as he hadn't been alive centuries ago, his opinion on the validity of the gem was of no importance. Hilla then continued overriding the Knights' arguments until Phantom himself appeared and exposed Hilla's treachery.

A Knight's Path
A descendant of the Noblesse - an ancient order of warriors who had sworn to uphold Shinsoo's ideals - was formally inducted into the Cygnus Knights by Empress Cygnus, after which they met with the five Chief Knights and chose their path, becoming a Thunder Breaker under Hawkeye's tutelage. After the Cygnus Knight successfully completed their first mission in Victoria Island, they were dispatched to investigate the Black Wings in Edelstein. As they were about to board the airship, Hawkeye arrived and asked whether it was true that they had defeated Francis the Puppeteer. The Knight dismissed their actions as merely luck, and though Hawkeye was pleased by their humbleness, he warned the Knight to remain vigilant, as darkness grew stronger even as they did. He then wished the Knight good luck on their mission, explaining that he had a mission of his own to complete. Before he left, however, Hawkeye reached out to 10 Boogies in Edelstein and asked her to supervise the Knight's training while they were on their mission, for which 10 Boogies tasked the Knight with defeating the nearby Water Thief Monsters. After the Knight successfully completed their mission in Edelstein, they were tasked by Cygnus to seek out Hawkeye, who told them that he was impressed by how much they had accomplished, especially given that they were only a Knight-in-Training. He then suggested that the Knight take the Official Knighthood exam. Once the Knight accepted, Hawkeye asked them to go to the Second Drill Hall and defeat a clone of a Jr. Balrog, which was significantly weaker than the real one, though challenging nevertheless. The Knight defeated the clone and brought back a Proof of Knighthood, after which Hawkeye promoted them to Official Knight. Soon after, the Knight began training in Maple World and growing stronger, after which Neinheart recommended that they try becoming an Advanced Knight. He sent them to meet with Hawkeye, who agreed that they had become stronger. However, he explained that while their Official Knighthood exam had tested their strength, their Advanced Knighthood exam would test their faith. He explained that a Knight's faith was revealed when facing inner darkness, and so he sent the Knight to the Third Drill Hall, where the Knight faced their inner darkness in the form of a dark shadow. They then reported back to Hawkeye, who was pleased by their success and sent them to meet the Empress. Cygnus was also impressed by their growth and unlocked greater power within them before promoting them to Advanced Knight.
Soon after, Neinheart reached out to them again and noted that they had grown much stronger. He explained that he had an urgent secret mission that he normally would have only entrusted a Chief Knight to undertake, but as all the Chief Knights were away on missions, he had decided to entrust it to the Knight on Hawkeye's recommendation. He asked them to retrieve a special book from Wiz the Librarian at Helios Library, emphasizing that it was highly important. At the library, however, Wiz told them that a group of unidentified people with strange devices and animals had demanded that he give them the book shortly before the Knight had arrived. He explained that the book was ancient and had recently been found on an old bookshelf in Helios Library. As it had been written in a strange language, he had no idea what the contents of the book were, although he added that the Cygnus Knights had asked to retrieve it upon learning that the Black Wings were trying to take it. The Knight chased after the group and caught up with them near Ludibrium Station. They were surprised to find that the group was comprised of the Resistance leaders. The Knight asked them to hand the book over, but Claudine refused to give it up, claiming that the Cygnus Knights would only hide the book away, rather than use it against the Black Wings. However, the Knight refused to give up, explaining that it was their mission to bring the book back to Ereve. As tensions grew higher, Black Wings henchmen suddenly arrived to seize the book. The group switched focus to fighting the Black Wings henchmen. During the battle, Claudine was injured, and just as more enemies closed in, Hawkeye and a legion of Cygnus Knights arrived to reinforce them. As the Resistance and the Cygnus Knights began squabbling over the book, Claudine unexpectedly ordered the others to retreat and gave the book to the Knight, claiming that it would be safer in Ereve than in Edelstein, which the Black Wings had made their base. She added that she now knew that the Knight was powerful and admitted that the Resistance wouldn't have been able to protect the book without their help. She told the Knight that, as the Resistance still didn't trust them, they would be keeping watch from afar. Hawkeye then asked the Knight to deliver the book to Neinheart, who congratulated them on their successful mission.
Gate to the Future
Soon after, Neinheart contacted the Knight and noted that they had grown very strong, with few Cygnus Knights being able to match their strength. He told them that rumors had been circulating that Cygnus and the Knights had betrayed Maple World and joined the Black Mage. Though he believed it to be absurd, he acknowledged that rumors grew stronger as more people talked about them, regardless of how ridiculous they were. He also noted that since the rumors originated from the Gate to the Future, someone might have confused a hypothetical future with reality. He asked them to investigate the rumors, but as the Temple of Time was dangerous, he told them that they would work alongside Hawkeye. He then sent them to meet with Della, one of their informants. At the Temple of Time, Hawkeye and the Knight met with Della, who told them that the rumors about the Cygnus Knights betraying Maple World in the future were true, with Cygnus being known as the Axle of Evil. However, she explained that a strange black fog was coming out of the Gate to the Future, preventing both her and the Temple Keepers from entering. Hawkeye decided that they would need to look into it themselves and asked Della about the fog. She explained that the fog pushed people away the further they entered, preventing them from catching anything more than a glimpse of the future. Hawkeye and the Knight arrived at the Gate to the Future, where they discovered the thick black fog emanating from beyond the door. The Knight felt as though something was calling to them, and so they entered through the door and arrived in Future Ereve, where they encountered Future Cygnus and her corrupted Chief Knights. Suddenly, the Knight began to feel an unnatural drowsiness overtake them and lost consciousness.
They soon awoke back at the Temple of Time to the sight of Hawkeye attempting to wake them up. Suddenly, the black fog formed tendrils of darkness that attempted to grab at the Knight. Hawkeye immediately pushed them aside, but the tendrils instead ensnared him and dragged him into the Gate to the Future. The Knight rushed in after Hawkeye, but they were soon engulfed by the same unnatural sense of drowsiness. As they felt their consciousness fade away, the Knight heard Cygnus's voice calling out to them and reminding them of who they were. The Knight was able to remain awake and found themselves in a dreamscape, where they discovered a Wightmare placing Hawkeye into an enchanted sleep. The Knight quickly defeated the Wightmare and took Hawkeye back to the Temple of Time. Hawkeye awoke and thanked them for their help, explaining that the Wightmare had been trying to brainwash him by planting images into his mind. Suddenly, Della rushed over to them and explained that there was an emergency in Ereve, as the Empress had fallen. Hawkeye and the Knight rushed back to Ereve, where they found that the black fog had engulfed the island. They found Neinheart and the others huddled around an unconscious Cygnus and asked what had happened. Neinheart explained that the black fog had suddenly appeared, causing Cygnus to pass out right after. He noted that the black fog was no simple attack, as it had been able to bypass both Ereve's barrier and Shinsoo's protection. Kinu, one of the Piyo training instructors, noted that Cygnus had fallen into an enchanted sleep, which the Knight realized was just like what had happened to them. Oz noted that Cygnus' power was fading and that she was in grave danger, since she had not yet fully accepted Shinsoo's power.
As the Chief Knights argued about what to do, Shinsoo sensed that the Knight had learned something significant in the Gate to the Future and asked them to share it with the others. After the Knight explained how they had been ensnared by the black fog, Neinheart realized that since Cygnus's power and that of the Cygnus Knights were intertwined, the Knight being affected by the black fog may have inadvertently resulted in Cygnus experiencing the same. Neinheart told the Knight that just as they had saved Hawkeye, they now needed to save Cygnus within her dreamscape as well. Through the grace of Shinsoo, Neinheart sent the Knight into Cygnus's dreamscape, where they found her staring at her corrupted self through a mirror. Suddenly, Future Cygnus shattered the mirror, knocking the real Cygnus out, and emerged through the other side. The Knight immediately fought Future Cygnus and defeated her, sending both the real Cygnus and themselves back into the real world. Around them, the black fog dissipated as Cygnus awoke from her nightmare. Some time after the incident, Neinheart thanked the Knight for their valiant efforts and noted that based on everything that he and Hawkeye had observed, the Knight had risen to become the epitome of a Cygnus Knight, both in power and valor. He then explained that Oz had discovered that the power of the black fog had been entirely foreign, after which he asked the Knight whether they had found any clues while fighting the Wightmare and Future Cygnus. The Knight told him that they were certain that the mastermind wasn't a Black Wings member, as the Wightmare's clothes had the pattern of a butterfly, not the Black Wings' symbol. Neinheart realized that they were likely facing a new enemy and resolved to look into them. He also told them that with the black fog having lifted from the Gate to the Future, he was planning on sending a full-scale investigation to investigate the rumors. He then told the Knight that Cygnus had something important to tell them. The Knight went to meet Cygnus, who noted that they had grown stronger while holding true to their beliefs, never once losing their heart while protecting the weak. Because of their valor, Cygnus promoted them to Chief Knight. Soon after, Hawkeye congratulated them for their promotion and added that they expected great things from the Knight.
Cygnus Awakens
As part of an upcoming Alliance meeting away from Ereve, the Chief Knights were assigned to serve as Cygnus's security detail. Hawkeye and the other Chief Knights rendezvoused at the Six Path Crossway, when suddenly, an injured Kiku arrived at the station and explained that Ereve was under attack, and that though Shinsoo was fighting off the invaders, the situation was looking grim. Neinheart asked Kiku who had attacked Ereve, to which he explained that it was an unknown man with grey skin and purple hair. Cygnus immediately decided that she would return along with the rest of the Chief Knights, as their forces would otherwise be split between protecting her and reinforcing Shinsoo. Neinheart agreed with her, explaining that there was a chance that the attack on Ereve could be a ruse to draw them away from Cygnus. He decided that it would be best for them to all return to Ereve together, adding that he would postpone the Alliance meeting as well. As they prepared to debark, Neinheart began wondering what the enemy's goal could be in attacking Ereve. The Knights then reached Ereve, only to find the entire island in ruins. For an instant, they saw Damien smirking in front of Shinsoo's body before he teleported away with Alicia. The Knights rushed ahead and found Shinsoo lying motionless, causing Cygnus to burst into tears and cry over Shinsoo's body. Suddenly, a surge of power welled up inside her, causing a large water barrier to envelop around herself and Shinsoo. Mihile rushed forward in an attempt to save the Empress, but found that his attacks did nothing. Neinheart was shocked at the sight of Cygnus constructing a barrier with her own power, and not with Shinsoo's, which he had believed to be impossible. Within the water barrier, Cygnus experienced an awakening and a transformation. With her new powers, she touched Shinsoo's body and restored vitality to the divine beast. Over the next few months, the Knights rebuilt Ereve after Damien's attack, with Shinsoo leaving Ereve to a refuge in Leafre. Soon after, the Knight whom Hawkeye had trained was called to Leafre by Shinsoo, who revealed that Cygnus had prematurely awakened as a Transcendent-in-waiting.
Arcane River Expedition
After the Arcane River was created, the Adversary pushed forward through the Vanishing Journey and began sending letters to the Alliance about their findings. As massive black chains began descending upon Maple World, Cygnus ordered the Alliance to move forward into the Arcane River and follow the Adversary. In the Vanishing Journey, Hawkeye began facing the Erda monsters, noting that despite the monsters being weak, his attacks were barely doing any damage at all. As he began realizing that they couldn't push forward into the Arcane River when they were being pushed to their limits in such small skirmishes, Oz approached him and informed him that she had also been struggling against the Erda monsters, noting that even fire magic couldn't deal damage to them. She told Hawkeye that just as the Adversary had said in their letter, they would need to use a special method to deal damage to the Erdas in the Arcane River. Hawkeye recalled what the Adversary had said about harnessing the Erdas inside them and began wondering how in the world the Adversary had managed to accomplish such a feat. Oz agreed, noting that such a power was impossible to achieve by mere mortals, and that only the guidance of the Goddesses could help awaken such an ability. Just then, a Cygnus Knight arrived and reported that he had found another message from the Adversary floating up the river. Upon reading the letter, Oz and Hawkeye learned about the Adversary's journey past the Vanishing Journey into Chu Chu Island, as well as the fact that the entire region had been created from a fusion of Maple World's Erdas. Noting that the Arcane River itself seemed vast and confusing, Hawkeye wondered how they could fight past the Erda monsters and make any progress towards the end. Oz reminded him that Ereve was still conducting research on defeating Erdas, and that there was still hope.
Tenebris
During the final assault of the White Spear to reach the Black Mage, Eckhart accompanied the greatest warriors of the Alliance to the Temple of Darkness. There, the Adversary and their allies confronted the Black Mage, who addressed the Alliance from the Throne of Darkness and declared that their path had always been preordained, and that they were only quickening their pace to its end. Cygnus then addressed the Black Mage and declared that the Maple Alliance would never support him before she rallied the Chief Knights into attacking. After the Adversary and the Alliance defeated the knights, Eckhart noted that the battle had been difficult. Hawkeye jokingly asked Eckhart whether he was tired already, with Irena reminding him that they still had a long way to go, as they had only beaten the gatekeepers. Oz encouraged everyone to keep going, reminding them that they still had the strength to fight on.
Aftermath
In Ereve, Empress Cygnus addressed her Knights and thanked them all for their bravery. She then asked if they were willing to continue following her in the fight against evil, which garnered a rallying cry for Cygnus.
Note: This section only takes place if the player is a Thunder Breaker.
Hawkeye told the Knight that he was impressed with their performance and laughed that it was all thanks to his training. The Knight agreed, noting that they were still quite far behind when compared to him. Hawkeye laughed and told them that to celebrate, he would go on an adventure with them.
Will's Escape
Following the battle of Tenebris, Will was captured and brought to Ereve's prison, where he remained under guard by the Chief Knights. After Grendel the Really Old began interrogating him, Will gave him a core containing the Black Mage's thoughts, prompting Grendel to chase after the truth behind the purpose of the Transcendents. As Grendel disappeared, powerful Soot monsters from Tenebris appeared from inside the prison, which Oz began fighting as she stood guard from the outside. Soon after, the Adversary and Neinheart arrived at the prison, where they rushed inside and found Hawkeye fighting several more monsters. The Adversary quickly took care of them, after which Hawkeye reported that Will had done something to Grendel, causing him to vanish. Hawkeye then asked Will what he had done with Grendel, to which Will replied that he had merely given Grendel a nudge in the right direction on the path laid out by the Black Mage.
Mission to Cernium
During the Alliance expedition to Cernium, Hawkeye was chosen as a member of the Glory Guard alongside the Adversary, Edea, and Checky. After facing the Ebonstar soldiers, Checky and Hawkeye began exploring the city. Alongside the Adversary, Hawkeye was roped into helping a young boy who had been providing them information about the city in exchange for taking care of the seagulls at the western rampants. Just then, they noticed Seren surveying the heretics from the ramparts. Hawkeye told the Adversary that he had learned that only Celestials had wings like the ones that Seren had. From what he had gathered in the city, the people of Cernium were fond of Seren and believed her to be trustworthy, though her own Order seemed to hate her. After Seren left, Hawkeye suggested that they speak with the Dawn Priest at the ramparts, as he felt that something was wrong.
When Ebonstar began their attack on Cernium, Hawkeye checked on Checky, who had briefly lost consciousness in the explosion. Checky told Hawkeye that it was a relief that they had managed to stop the enemy, but Hawkeye explained that they had merely defeated the first wave, pointing to a much larger force approaching. At the eastern gates, the Adversary found a black Ebonstar emblem that Roland had dropped before realizing that Flora soldiers had breached the city gate. Checky and Hawkeye arrived with reinforcements, but Seren noted that there was no end to their numbers. Nevertheless, the Glory Guard and Cernium's knights managed to repel the enemy invasion, temporarily saving the city until the High Flora army closed in. In the interim, Hawkeye began working with the knights at the western ramparts. When the Adversary came to check on them, Hawkeye explained that the soldiers were running low on iron to repair their weapons, and that the Monster Gulls were trying to take the scrap metal on the battlefield for themselves. After the Adversary took care of the seagulls, the knights were able to collect the scrap metal, and Hawkeye asked the Adversary to go to the forge in order to let Seren know. He also gave them an overdue library book from one of the soldiers to return to Aaron the librarian. Soon after, Seren and the Glory Guard was chosen to rescue the Chosen One, who was being held in the Flora encampment. There, however, they discovered that the Chosen One - Gilmore - had sided with the High Flora, and that he was planning to wipe out all non-believers in the city. As the Flora soldiers discovered them, Edea told the Adversary to cover their escape and to get the emblem of the Chosen One from Gilmore. The Adversary and Hawkeye defeated the arriving Flora soldiers and wounded Gilmore, who cursed them and declared that he would soon come for Azor. Before the Adversary could grab the emblem, Gilmore created a protective shield around himself with the same red magic as more Flora soldiers arrived. With no other choice, Hawkeye and the Adversary retreated.
After realizing that Seren wouldn't become the Chosen One, Edea terminated the Alliance's partnership with Cernium and prepared to return to Maple World. That night, the Glory Guard met outside the city gates, where Checky and Hawkeye were surprised to learn the reason behind Seren's refusal to become the Chosen One. Checky noted that by refusing to become the Chosen One, Seren was merely repeating a cycle of mistakes. Aaron the librarian then appeared and revealed that all of Cernium's faiths worshiped the same god, causing Checky to realize that Gilmore was wrong, as there were no non-believers in Cernium if all the different faiths ultimately worshipped Mitra. When Edea left to check something at the library, Hawkeye told the group that they couldn't go without her and decided that in her place, the Adversary should take up command. With the authority as the new acting commander, the Adversary declared that the Alliance would aid Cernium once again and decided to defend the western ramparts, while ordering Hawkeye and Checky to defend the eastern ramparts. After Seren became the Chosen One, she used her powers to drive back the High Flora army. In the aftermath, however, Aaron revealed himself to be Gerand Darmoor and forced Mitra to possess Seren, with the resulting damage wounding Hawkeye and the others, after which Darmoor shattered the Adversary's Seal Stone.
Cosim's Infiltration
A few months after the events of Cernium, Cosim infiltrated Ereve, prompting Hawkeye and the Chief Knights to chase after him. As they did, Neinheart found a set of rabbit-like footprints leading in the opposite direction. He then ran into Cosim who told him that some of the answers that the Alliance sought about the Ancient Gods could be found amidst the deserts of Grandis, after which he disappeared. As the Chief Knights returned, Cosim overlooked them on a cliff, watching them speak with Neinheart.
Investigating Havoc
Following Havoc's disappearance at the battle of Cernium, Neinheart tasked Hawkeye with tracking down the Apostle of Lightning in Grandis. Soon after the expedition to Hotel Arcus, Hawkeye attended a meeting with Neinheart, the Adversary, and the Chief Knights, where he reported that the Thunder Breakers had been following news of Havoc. Though they had no confirmation of whether he was dead or alive, Hawkeye explained that he believed that Havoc had to be alive, since they hadn't found his body after his defeat at Seren's hands. Though they were investigating with the support of Prince Carlisle, Hawkeye reported that it was difficult to gather news in Cernium because of the chaos in the city. After the Arteria invasion, Hawkeye learned that Cygnus had fallen into a coma and lost her Transcendent powers. Though he had demanded to return and see the Empress, Neinheart had denied his request, claiming that his mission to gather intelligence was top priority in the wake of the recent crisis. Because of this, Hawkeye remain in Grandis while an emergency Alliance meeting was held to discuss the Alliance's next steps. However, after Havoc appeared in Carcion to rescue Limbo, Hawkeye's mission to track down the Apostle of Lightning switched to monitoring the movements of the Flora army.
Mission to Tallahart
The Grave of the Gods
After the mission to Carcion, Neinheart summoned the Adversary to Ereve in order to brief them on the movements of the High Flora army. The Adversary then traveled to Ereve, where they met with Neinheart and a hologram of Hawkeye.[6][7] Hawkeye reported that he had been hoping to deduce Darmoor's location by tracking Havoc's movements after his disappearance in Cernium, though the Apostles had soon launched their widespread attack first, resulting in the invasion of Ereve and the battle in Carcion. As Neinheart had feared that the Alliance would suffer a crippling defeat due to their lack of information, Hawkeye explained that Neinheart had tasked him with assessing the damage from their prior battles and determining where the Apostles had stolen the power of the Ancient Gods from. Hawkeye then pointed out a region in the center of Grandis, where he had discovered traces of the High Flora army, despite them having left that region almost completely alone. Neinheart noted that it seemed suspicious that the High Flora had not moved to attack the region like the others, which made him suspect that they were exploring the area instead. Hawkeye explained that while there was little information available about the area, they needed to exercise great caution, as the center of the continent where that area was located brushed the heart of the High Flora nation. Neinheart agreed and decided to authorize an investigation into the region and the High Flora's purpose there, for which he tasked Hawkeye with gathering information from the Seekers in Hotel Arcus. Though the Adversary wished to check on Archelon's safety after the Apostles' raids on the Ancient Gods, Neinheart asked Hawkeye to handle the investigation alone, as he needed to discuss an update on Seren's last message with the Adversary regarding ‘the place where the world starts again'.
In Hotel Arcus, Hawkeye began interrogating the Seekers about information pertaining to the central region of Grandis. Soon after, the Adversary returned from their meeting with Carlisle, where they learned that 'the place where the world starts again' referred to the ancient city of Tallahart. At the hotel, the Adversary met with Hawkeye, who suggested that they speak with the Seekers to learn more about Tallahart. After asking about Tallahart, they learned from the Seekers that the city ruins were different than those of Karote, as they were merely stationary ruins, and that they appeared to hold no traces of the Ancient Gods. With no other clues, the Seekers advised the Adversary to speak with Rusty to learn more. However, Rusty told the Adversary that Archelon would likely know more about Tallahart and suggested that they speak with him instead. The Adversary met with Archelon and asked him about Tallahart, to which Archelon began recounting the legend of the Grave of the Gods. He explained that in the beginning, no gods had been worshiped anywhere throughout the world until one powerful god had appeared and reigned over the others. Under that god, many other gods had begun to gather, with mortals eventually coming to worship them all, resulting in the creation of Tallahart. The Adversary was surprised to know that such a powerful god had once existed, recalling the stories of how Tallahart had been destroyed overnight. However, Archelon admitted that he had no knowledge of how Tallahart had been destroyed, though he invited them to use the Arcus Gate to visit the ruins. However, just as he had once warned them during the expedition to Karote, Archelon warned the Adversary that great power would bring about great disaster.
After speaking with Archelon, the Adversary reported back to Hawkeye, who suggested that they consult with Neinheart about what to do next. Neinheart, believing that there was little more they could do by chasing rumors, approved an expedition to Tallahart, though he added that he couldn't send any more troops besides them just yet, as the mission needed to be conducted discreetly to avoid drawing the attention of the High Flora. Hawkeye and the Adversary then used the Arcus Gate to head to Tallahart, with a girl named Luce – who had followed the Adversary from Cernium – using her staff to teleport after them. The pair then arrived in the white wastelands of Tallahart, where they discovered the buried ruins of the city. Immediately upon coming closer, however, the Adversary was surprised to find that the World Heart was reacting strongly, causing them to see a vision of a storm and an altar somewhere within the city. Just then, the World Heart began shining brightly as the dormant power of the gods was awakened, causing a powerful storm to appear in the distance over the ruins. Realizing that there was no way that the High Flora wouldn't have noticed such a strong disturbance, Hawkeye suggested that they retreat and wait for reinforcements to arrive. However, he quickly discovered that the storm had blocked off communications, and so he instead suggested that they head straight for the city.
The Adversary and Hawkeye then proceeded to walk around the ruins of Tallahart for over an hour, unable to make any progress, with Hawkeye noting that they were simply going in circles. The Adversary realized that there was some kind of magic blocking the path ahead, to which Hawkeye added that they were going to lose again to the Apostles if they couldn't make any more progress. Just then, Luce – having followed them from Hotel Arcus – appeared before them and revealed that Tallahart had a spell placed upon it to prevent intruders from entering the city. She then introduced herself as a Seeker and explained that she might be able to help them. As she approached the pair, the Adversary noted that the sound of the bell on her staff seemed familiar, recalling it from when they had briefly heard it in Cernium. Though Hawkeye dismissed her as a child, Luce adamantly claimed that she wasn't a child and that she was much older. However, as the Adversary began to approach her, Luce jumped back and warned them to stay away from her, to which the Adversary stopped and apologized for startling her. They then asked her whether there was a way to break through the illusion spell, to which Luce asked them to make a contract with her, such that she would open the path to Tallahart if they took her into the city with them. At Hawkeye's surprise at her ability to break the spell, Luce explained that she had been chasing after Tallahart for longer than anyone else as a Seeker, and that she had been researching magic that could dispel the city's illusion spell.
Hawkeye noted that Luce didn't seem to need their help in entering the city if she was so powerful. Luce replied that with the Ancient Gods waking up across Grandis, she had been hoping for the Ancient God of Tallahart to awaken as well. She revealed that Tallahart hadn't been destroyed in a natural disaster like the legends stated, but rather, it had been wiped out in the Ancient War. She explained that the Ancient Gods of Tallahart wielded the power of illusion, and that the reawakened city was an illusion created by their influence. However, she added that the illusion was filled with the wrath of the gods who had fallen in the Ancient War, which was why Tallahart was called the Grave of the Gods. She explained that it was said that the bodies of the gods who had been defeated in battle had disappeared somewhere, though their immortal power had remained dormant in Tallahart for ages, leaving behind their hatred for the Adversaries who had sealed them away. Luce explained that the wrathful power of the gods would attack them if they were to enter the city, causing Hawkeye to realize that Luce intended to use them as escorts into Tallahart. Luce replied that she could only use a small bit of illusion magic, leaving her exposed to being attacked by the monsters within, though she added that she needed to enter the city and retrieve her ‘divine treasure'. As the ground began to rumble, Luce noted that the power of the gods within was growing stronger by the minute and that the awakened gods would pose a great challenge. Realizing that Luce was right, Hawkeye turned to the Adversary and explained that it was in their best interest to claim the gods' power while the gods were still weak.
The Adversary then approached Luce and agreed to help her, and though Luce once again jumped back and warned them not to come close to her, she acknowledged their contract before leading them to a spot where the illusion spell had weakened. Just then, the wrathful traces of the gods' power appeared and began to attack, causing the Adversary to stop and defeat them first, with Luce noting her awe at the Adversary's power. When Hawkeye explained that they were the great Adversary of Maple World, Luce paused and noted that she knew the power of the Adversary well, causing the Adversary to wonder what she meant. Luce then changed the subject and asked the Adversary why they wished to enter Tallahart in the first place, to which they explained that they wanted to claim the power of the Ancient Gods before the High Flora could take it first. Luce recognized the High Flora as the subordinates of Darmoor, whom she noted was the Transcendent of Life. They then proceeded ahead, with the Adversary defending Luce from the vengeful monsters while she broke through the illusion spell. Upon dispelling the illusion, Luce instructed them to continue ahead past the bridge, which she explained was the only way into Tallahart. Though Hawkeye praised their progress, claiming that the wrathful spirits weren't as dangerous as he had thought, Luce warned him that the power of the gods would grow stronger as they went closer into the city. As they neared the bridge, the Adversary felt the World Heart reacting to something as more vengeful spirits appeared. After defeating them, they proceeded across the bridge and arrived at the entrance to the city, where Hawkeye marveled at the size of Tallahart, noting that it was several times bigger than Cernium. However, Luce scoffed at Hawkeye's words, claiming that a small town like Cernium couldn't be compared to a sanctuary like Tallahart, where many powerful gods lived, including the highest god of Tallahart, who wielded pure power itself. The Adversary was confused by Luce's words, while Hawkeye noted that while she seemed to know much about Tallahart, she was wrong about Cernium being a small city. Luce was surprised to know that Cernium was a large city, adding that she had never been there before.
She then turned to the hole in the illusion spell and used her magic to dispel it, just as the World Heart began reacting once again. The Adversary immediately looked up to find Veronica casting a spell to rain down a bombardment upon them. Just as she fired, the World Heart reacted on its own and created a powerful shield using its stored power to block the attack. Veronica and two Knights of the Einherjar then flew down to the group, with Veronica noting amusedly that the title of ‘Adversary' wasn't simply an empty boast after all. A surprised Luce asked aloud who their enemies were and why they had attacked her, to which Hawkeye identified Veronica from the Alliance reports as a subordinate of Darmoor. As Veronica launched another attack, the World Heart once again reacted on its own and created a divine shield to block her bombardment, with Hawkeye wondering in amazement where the Adversary had learned such a skill. The Adversary wondered to themselves whether the World Heart had reacted to their strong willpower, noting that its power was growing much stronger. Veronica then thanked them for laying open the path to Tallahart, claiming that things would be much easier thanks to them. Though the Adversary declared that they wouldn't simply allow her to go freely, Veronica mockingly asked them whether they had thought that she had come unprepared before fleeing, leaving behind monstrous golems created with Baldrix's power. The Adversary and Hawkeye began to fight the golems, which immediately began reforming themselves the instant that they were defeated. With no other choice, Hawkeye urged the Adversary and Luce to go on ahead while he held the golems off, reminding the Adversary that only they could claim the power of the gods. Promising that he would follow them as soon as he could, Hawkeye held his ground and covered the Adversary and Luce's escape, silently planning to go out in a blaze of glory after realizing that reinforcements wouldn't be coming.
Meeting the Primacy
As the Adversary and Luce began exploring the city, Hawkeye continued struggling as he faced off against Baldrix's monsters. Just as he began faltering, however, a distant sniper's shots pierced through the monsters and prevented them from reforming. To Hawkeye's surprise, several members of the Primacy appeared, with Ailene laughing that the monsters could only be taken down with a special substance that counteracted their magical power. As she praised her abilities, Khafdi scolded her, reminding her that it had all been thanks to the special bullets that Gob had made her. Just then, a hologram of Kelly appeared, with her noting satisfactorily that transmission had been perfect and that the portal device had worked. As Kelly continued chattering, Iker began complaining about how noisy everyone was being before ordering his team to wipe the remaining monsters out. As the team moved out, Iker addressed Hawkeye and noted that he belonged to the Alliance. A surprised Hawkeye asked Iker who he was, to which Iker replied that it wasn't important, changing the subject and demanding Hawkeye to tell him where the Adversary was. After Hawkeye revealed that the Adversary had entered the city, the Primacy quickly rushed in and proceeded to get into an altercation with the Adversary as they demanded that the Adversary surrender the power of the gods in Tallahart. Just then, Hawkeye arrived as Kelly's hologram transmission flickered on, explaining that it had taken some time to outfit Hawkeye with the transporter. Hawkeye laughed at the Adversary's surprise before explaining how the Primacy had saved him. Though Ailene was annoyed at Kelly for sending Hawkeye over, Kelly insisted that they needed all the help that they could get to defeat the Apostle.
After hearing the situation, Hawkeye told the Primacy that just as he had said earlier, the power of the Ancient Gods couldn't be handed over so easily. Luce once again spoke up, furious to know that they intended to turn the power of the gods into a weapon, with the Adversary also admitting that they couldn't hand that power over. Just as Iker decided to acquire that power in their own way, Hawkeye made a suggestion and noted that the Primacy simply needed a weapon against the High Flora army, not necessarily the power of the Ancient Gods. He then explained that the Alliance already had a powerful weapon in the form of the Adversary, whose help he offered to the Primacy for whatever mission they needed. At the Adversary's hesitant expression, Hawkeye promised them that it was a good plan, as he had seen firsthand that the Primacy had the technology to deal with the Apostle's magic. He then promised that it was an emergency measure, and that Neinheart could sort things out later on. Though the Primacy conceded that it was a good deal, Iker nevertheless pointed out that there was no trust on either side for such a deal. Suddenly, however, the ground began rumbling as the power of the gods manifested into vengeful spirits. After working together to defeat the monsters, the Primacy – having seen the Adversary's power first-hand – agreed to the deal and formed a truce to help the Alliance acquire the power of the gods from Tallahart. Iker then ordered Khafdi and Ailene to move out and ordered Kelly to transport the wounded back to the hideout before telling the Adversary that he would come with them personally to see the power of the gods for himself. As he walked on, Luce disdainfully noted that they wished to turn the power of the gods into a weapon and wondered aloud what they thought of gods at all before storming off.
Nevertheless, Luce led them to the second altar, with the brazier burning brightly with purple flames. There, Luce noted hesitantly that extinguishing the flames would result in them taking the divine power for themselves, to which Hawkeye asked her why that was a problem, claiming that it was better than it falling into the High Flora's hands. The Adversary then noted that the seal seemed rather different from the last one, as the Apostle's presence had made the gods' power unstable. Nevertheless, the Adversary began to use the World Heart to break the seal, causing them to fall into a dark void where they encountered the memory of the supreme goddess Noctis. Back at the altar, the Adversary awoke from the illusion as the World Heart finished absorbing the power of the gods contained within the seal. Hawkeye was surprised at the sight, with Iker impressed by the Adversary's power. Hawkeye asked the Adversary what they had seen, as they had been completely unresponsive after taking out the World Heart and breaking the seal. The Adversary then told the others about the vision, with everyone realizing that the seals contained the power of many gods, not simply one. The Adversary then revealed that amongst the powers which had been absorbed, there was one which had escaped the World Heart and fled somewhere else, to which Iker wondered whether someone else had absorbed that power after the seal had broken. Though Hawkeye feared that the Apostle had taken it, the Adversary explained that it was unlikely, as Baldrix had already been foiled once when he had tried to absorb the power with a draining crystal. They added that it had instead seemed more like the power had naturally returned to its original source rather than being absorbed.
The Adversary then asked Luce whether she knew more about the gods of Tallahart, noting that it seemed as though they had not been on good terms with each other. However, Luce defensively asked the Adversary why they thought that she knew, as she had not been a part of those events. She added that she had already told them everything that she knew, and that the only thing that was certain was that the divine treasure would return once all the seals had been broken. With no other options, the group decided to head to the final seal, whose path Iker explained had already been secured by the Primacy. However, Hawkeye was wary that the enemy had set a trap for them, as there was no way that they would allow them to reach the final seal without a fight. Nevertheless, Iker dismissed his concerns by reminding him that they could simply fight their way out of any trap. As they headed out, Luce told the Adversary that once the final seal was broken, the divine treasure would be revealed. Hawkeye asked Luce what that treasure was and whether it was the power of the Ancient Gods, to which Luce hesitated before admitting that it was something similar. Hawkeye then asked the Adversary whether they had seen any clues in their vision, just as Iker interrupted and explained that he had gotten reports that the High Flora army had been sighted mobilizing above Tallahart, with Baldrix nowhere to be seen.
Facing the Knights of the Einherjar
With the enemy having likely determined their location, Iker decided to launch a preemptive strike, believing that there was not much point in determining the enemy's strategy without knowing what Baldrix was doing. However, the Adversary expressed their unease with dispersing their forces and putting them at risk, with Luce silently noting the Adversary's concern for their allies. Though Iker admitted that fighting to protect was a good motive, he added that the Primacy had already lost everyone that they wished to protect, and that they were now only fighting to get it back. As neither of them would agree, Iker decided that each side would fight as they saw fit without getting in each other's way. He then asked the Adversary what they intended to do, as they were likely walking into a trap with the final seal. However, Hawkeye noted that there was something off, as the High Flora would have already attempted to break the seal if they had wanted to. Suddenly, the ground began rumbling as Ailene and Khafdi reported that the enemy's aerial force had merely been one part, with the main force surging in to attack. As Veronica and her knights launched a bombardment on Tallahart, the World Heart instinctively reacted to create a shield around the Adversary and their allies. Veronica then flew down and amusedly asked the Adversary whether they truly believed that they could defeat her with so many fools around.
As the High Flora prepared to wipe them out, Hawkeye realized that they had been waiting for their forces to split up all along. After confirming in a panic on whether his allies were safe, Iker told the Adversary to head to the altar while he handled Veronica and her knights himself. However, Hawkeye refused to allow Iker to sacrifice himself after saving his life and decided to stay behind and assist him. As Hawkeye and Iker were soon surrounded by the enemy, Veronica mocked the pair, claiming that for a lowly race, they were holding up surprisingly well. However, Iker retorted by telling her not to look down on humans, just as Ailene and Khafdi broke through to their location. With Veronica surrounded and alone, Iker demanded to know where Baldrix was. Veronica then recalled Baldrix's orders to leave them alone for the time being, though he had also ordered her to counterattack when the right time came. When Veronica had asked him why he had left her with such counterintuitive orders, Baldrix had explained that when the final seal was broken, only the Adversary and Luce could approach it. Realizing that the time was at hand, Veronica gathered together her magic, causing Khafdi to wonder in shock whether she was planning to blow herself up. Just as she unleashed her power, Kelly used the teleporter that she had outfitted Hawkeye with to bring him and the Primacy to safety. They then rushed to the altar, where they discovered that the Adversary had successfully absorbed the power of the gods within the seal. However, they also noted that Luce was missing, and upon recalling how she had mentioned that the divine treasure would appear after the seals were broken, Iker – after receiving a new report from Kelly – explained that a new source of divine power had appeared in the center of the city. After revealing what they had learned in the final memory - revealing Luce to be the twin sister of Noctis, the Adversary realized that Luce likely intended to free Noctis - her treasure - and keep her promise to save her sister. Worried that Noctis's seal had been Baldrix's target all along, the Adversary decided to head to the final seal, which they realized was the unlit brazier at the center of Tallahart which they had first seen with Luce upon entering the city. After considering it, Iker ordered the Primacy to retreat while he, Khafdi, and Ailene accompanied the Adversary and Hawkeye alone to the final seal.
Soon after, the Adversary and the others arrived at the seal, where they were shocked to find a dying Luce. Luce weakly revealed that Baldrix had stolen what remained of her power, and that she would soon disappear forever. She then asked whether they had seen the memory and revealed that her sister was the highest god of Tallahart before being betrayed and sealed away by the other Ancient Gods. Having failed to save Noctis, Luce asked the Adversary to protect her sister from the Apostle, as well as to not absorb her sister's power. She noted that they were different from past Adversaries, and that though she hadn't wanted to admit it at first, she understood it now, which was why she asked that they keep their contract with her until the very end. After Luce's body scattered away, Khafdi reported that Baldrix appeared to have gone underground. After following him, the Primacy told the Adversary to chase after Baldrix while they covered from the rear. Fighting past the powerful spirits in the area, the group prepared to surround and overwhelm Baldrix together. The Primacy declared that they would avenge their comrades whom Baldrix had killed during his attack on their hideout. However, Baldrix merely laughed before summoning more monsters and teleporting himself away, inviting the Adversary to follow. Furious that Baldrix considered them to be beneath his notice, the Primacy told the Adversary to pursue him while they handled the monsters. After the Adversary defeated Baldrix in combat, Hawkeye and the Primacy arrived to meet the Adversary. Though impressed that the Adversary had proven equal to Baldrix, the Primacy noted that the seal was highly unstable and that it contained the supreme Ancient God of Tallahart. Hawkeye suggested that they retreat, though the Adversary refused to leave, as they had made a promise to Luce to protect her sister. Hawkeye warned the Adversary that Noctis held great animosity towards the Adversaries, though the Adversary replied that they believed themselves to be different, and that they would find a way to reason with her.
At the bridge to Tallahart, Hawkeye and the Primacy found themselves unable to enter the city when the Adversary appeared, having made a deal with Noctis to give her Luce's power in exchange for the power of Tallahart's other gods. After explaining what had happened, Hawkeye noted that it was perhaps time to return and report to the Alliance. He then asked Iker what the Primacy intended to do, to which Iker explained that their mission could be considered a success, and that their paths may perhaps cross again. He then told the Adversary that when the time came, he would call upon them to fulfill their deal before having Kelly teleport them back to the hideout. Just then, Alliance ships appeared in the sky, with Neinheart having arrived with reinforcements to bring them back to Ereve. There, the Adversary and Hawkeye finished their report, with Neinheart noting with pleasure that the mission had been a great success for the Alliance, having acquired a significant amount of divine power and making contact with the Primacy. However, both he and Hawkeye agreed that Baldrix and Veronica's actions had seemed highly suspicious throughout the mission, as it seemed that while they had initially come to Tallahart with the intention of taking the power of the Ancient Gods, their purpose appeared to have abruptly changed midway. The Adversary then recalled how the High Flora had reached the first seal before leaving the other paths completely unguarded, making them wonder whether something had happened at the first seal to change their objectives. Nevertheless, Neinheart noted that they couldn't form any proper conclusion with only circumstantial evidence. He also noted that the great culling that Baldrix had spoken of worried him, as he could scarcely even begin to imagine the scale of such an initiative. He then told the Adversary that he had heard that they had given Luce's power to Noctis and allowed her to go free, to which the Adversary replied that they didn't believe that it would harm the Alliance, promising to stop Noctis herself if she became a threat. Though Neinheart admitted that they had made the right decision, he cautioned them to remember that their choices affected the entire Alliance. With that, he decided to end the briefing, adding that he would soon be calling a conference with the Alliance.
Story (FriendStory)
Hawkeye's Friends World counterpart is the captain of the school Tae Kwon Do club who hangs out regularly with Mihile and Eckhart.
Cygnus and the New Kid
After Elwin inadvertently opened a portal between Maple World and Friends World, a traveler from Maple World agreed to switch places with a transfer student who had stumbled into Maple World and wished to explore their new surroundings. In Shinsoo International School, the traveler encountered Hawkeye, Eckhart, and Mihile, who recognized the traveler as the one who had beaten up another student. All three of them tried recruiting the traveler to their clubs, though all of them were rejected. Undeterred, they exchanged numbers and left the traveler to report back to Neinheart. The trio then began discussing the traveler and how Cygnus was infatuated with them. Just then, the bully - whom the traveler had beaten up - arrived and claimed that he was the transfer student whom Cygnus loved. He then declared that, as the ruler of the school, he claimed the school rooftop for himself, though the three completely ignored him and decided to leave. Only Eckhart remained long enough to fight the bully at his request and utterly defeated him before catching up with the others. Soon after, Cygnus met with Neinheart and told him that she had overheard a rumor that she had kissed someone with crazy hair, whom she interpreted to be the traveler, though she was confused why anyone would describe the traveler as having crazy hair. Neinheart promised to investigate the matter and called the traveler, asking them to meet him on the school roof. There, they found Neinheart with Hawkeye, Eckhart, Mihile, Irena, and Oz. Neinheart explained the rumor to them and said that though they all agreed that the rumor referred to the bully, he doubted that the bully was clever enough to have started it, which made him suspect that someone was trying to discredit Cygnus. Mihile and the others worked with Neinheart and the traveler to discover that Areda was responsible for trying to ruin Cygnus's reputation.
Hilla and Magnus, Sittin' in a Tree
After Magnus and Hilla's unresolved romantic tension began interfering with the dating life at school, Hawkeye and Mihile began discussing the matter with the traveler and Neinheart. Hawkeye brought them and Francis to the school rooftop, where he declared that they were now the Shinsoo School Players Club, and that they needed to hook up Hilla and Magnus so that they wouldn't interfere with dating at the school. He then asked the traveler to find out what Magnus and Hilla thought of each other. The traveler learned that Magnus couldn't stand Hilla because of her temper, and that Hilla had no opinion on Magnus. They returned to the school rooftop, where everyone reported that Magnus and Hilla would frequently argue. Hawkeye then suggested changing the environment around them in order to subliminally make them fall for each other by spreading photos and rumors online. After taking out-of-context shots of the two, the traveler pinned the photos at the front gate, hallways, and staff lounge. Neinheart then suggested starting subtle rumors about the two, such as them both getting sick at the same time. However, Hawkeye took it too literally and asked the traveler to collect Flu Virus bottles from the infirmary. There, Elwin told them to collect the bottles from the Motes. After collecting the bottles, they mixed the virus into Hilla's mug and Magnus' water bottle. Soon after, both Magnus and Hilla were spotted with flu symptoms in the hallways, and the rumors began flying. However, Neinheart told them that they needed Magnus and Hilla to take action themselves. Francis suggested an online tool that he had found, which took the first two letters of one's name, converted them into numbers, and found the difference. He explained that there was a match if the difference was the same as the difference between one's age and their crush's age. Hawkeye decided to humor Francis and asked the traveler to get chalk, which they obtained from the Motes. They then drew the math problem on all the chalkboards across the school. Soon enough, the traveler worked with Hawkeye and the others to arrange a date between Magnus and Hilla, though their attempt nevertheless ended in failure. Though they had failed to set them up, everyone admitted that it had been a fun effort before leaving.
Students in Crisis
After the White Mage joined Shinsoo International School as a student teacher, Hawkeye was rejected by a girl who explained that that ever since she had met the new student teacher, she had found him so attractive that every other boy looked like a squid in comparison. After Hawkeye had gone to see the student teacher, he had returned to them as a squid. While replaying the chapter, after Hawkeye gets turned into a squid, the player can speak with him and learn that he's upset about being the only one who had turned into a squid. He then gets the idea that we should take a photo of the Pale Student Teacher and show it to Neinheart, who'll turn into a squid after comparing himself to the Pale Student Teacher. After the player takes the photo and shows it to Neinheart, he'll get confused by why they're showing it to him. Hawkeye will then get mad and ask Neinheart why he hasn't turned into a squid. Neinheart will then proudly proclaim that he's been voted Most Popular and Most Sophisticated two years in a row, and so he has high self-esteem. Hawkeye will then once again lament that he's the only squid. The player then gets a special title for completing the hidden mission.
After the White Mage left the school, Hawkeye and all the other boys who were turned into squids returned to normal.
Damien and the Spirit of Rock
After special Motes formed from the power of rock and roll appeared and began infecting the students in the wake of Damien's arrival, Hawkeye suggested that they make their own band to beat Damien. At the school rooftop, the traveler and Damien engaged in a rock battle, though Damien's sound overpowered theirs. Damien revealed that they were using the school as a stepping stone in order to move on to bigger heights. They also made fun of Boogie, claiming that she had no talent. Just then, Irena appeared and claimed that Damien's band was weak, vowing that she would decimate them. She and Damien then made a bet that the losers would have to moon the entire school. The next day, Oz called the traveler and told them to come for practice on the school roof. While determining which song to perform, Irena asked them to collect music sheets from the music room so that they could practice each song. As the band needed money to book their practice rooms, the group performed various odd jobs, though Damien would frequently outdo them. Dejected, they decided to go to Granny's food stand, where they found Damien working there as well. After his shift was over, Damien walked away, and the others noticed that his fingers were bandaged up, showing his dedication to practice. Upon learning that everyone was willing to give up, Irena apologized for selfishly dragging them into the situation and told them that she would work out the bet with Damien herself. After she walked away, they realized that Irena was dejected because she was graduating that year, and that it was her last chance to leave a mark. Feeling ashamed, they decided to make it up to her. Over the next month, Hawkeye practiced with Irena and the others and defeated Damien in the battle of the bands.

Mihile replies that it's his own fault for not protecting the Empress and that he should have tried harder. However, Hawkeye reminds him that the burden wasn't his alone, as it was the responsibility of them all as Cygnus Knights to have protected her. He then expresses his regret for not having been there when Ereve had been attacked, though he stops himself and notes that they shouldn't talk so negatively, as Cygnus wouldn't like it, since she always wanted them to be strong. He then suggests that they change the subject and get back to the meeting, as they need something good to report to Cygnus once she awakens. Mihile agrees and adds that Hawkeye is right about how they need to focus on doing what must be done, after which Neinheart begins the meeting.
- ↑ Thunder Breakers also get some exclusive dialogue with Hawkeye at the beginning of their interaction. Hawkeye greets the player and tells them that he hopes that they've been doing great things while he's been away. The player hesitantly brings up the Empress, to which Hawkeye assures them that what happened to Cygnus wasn't their fault, and that she'll definitely wake up, for which he says that they should instead look to the fight ahead. The player agrees with Hawkeye and tells them that they'll keep that in mind, after which Neinheart begins the meeting.
