Family System
| This article contains information no longer in-game, and are thus historical records of MapleStory. |
The Family System was a feature that allowed players to recruit up to 2 lower-level players (Juniors) and serve as a mentor (Seniors). Players could learn about the Family System from Captain Al. A UI called the Family Pedigree allowed players to view Juniors and Seniors two levels above your character, as well as the total number of members in your Family and the Leader of the Family. Juniors could recruit other players into their Family and become Seniors as well. As your Junior(s) would train and level up, the Senior would receive Reputation Points (also known as Rep); if a Junior outleveled a Senior, any additional Rep granted to the Senior would be reduced by half. Players who had 1,000 people below them in their Family Pedigree would also be entitled to the Leader of a Big Family medal.
With Reputation Points, players could use various buffs and skills, as follows:
- Teleport to another family member
- Summon another family member to your location
- 1.5X EXP Rate for yourself (15 minutes)
- 1.5X Drop Rate for yourself (15 minutes)
- 2X EXP Rate for yourself (15 minutes)
- 2X Drop Rate for yourself (15 minutes)
- 2X EXP Rate for yourself (30 minutes)
- 2X Drop Rate for yourself (30 minutes)
- 2X EXP Rate for your party (30 minutes)
- 2X Drop Rate for your party (30 minutes)
- 2X EXP Rate and 2X Drop Rate for 6 Juniors in your Pedigree
The Family System was available in all servers of the game, but the revamp of the Guild System in 2014 brought the removal of the Family System. Certain skills were repurposed into new Guild Skills: On My Way allows players to teleport to another Guild member, while I Summon Thee allows players to summon another Guild member to your location.
