Maker was a skill that allowed players at 1st Job Advancement or above to craft Equipment, serving as a predecessor to Professions. To receive the Maker skill, players would talk to Moren in Magatia's Weapon & Armor Shop and complete a quest, with Maker Level 1 unlocked at Level 45, Maker Level 2 unlocked at Level 75, and Maker Level 3 unlocked at Level 105. In ChinaMS and TaiwanMS, Maker was available in the Maple Inn instead of Magatia.

With Maker, players could craft equipment for their class, namely Hats, Tops, Bottoms, Overalls, Shoes, Gloves, and Weapons. To craft a piece of equipment, players had to be a minimum of 5 levels below the equipment's level, and gather materials consisting of Refined Plates, Magic Powders, Monster Crystals, and / or various other items. Ores and Magic Powders were dropped by various monsters, while Monster Crystals were obtained by combining 100 Leftovers from a given monster; the crystals came in 3 Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced ranks each that were based on the level of the Leftover, with a small chance to receive a higher rank when combining.

Players could also combine various Refined Gems and Crystals into Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced variants in order to enhance the stats of Equipment, with Diamonds and Sapphires only being usable on Weapons:

• Sapphire: Magic Attack +1, 2, 3
• Garnet: Accuracy +2, 3, 5
• Opal: Avoidability +2, 3, 5
• Aquamarine: Jump +1, 2, 3
• Amethyst: Speed +1, 2, 3
• Topaz: Max HP +10, 20, 30
• Emerald: Max MP +10, 20, 30
• Black Crystal: Random Stat +1, 2, 3
• Dark Crystal: Random Stat +2, 3, 5
• Power Crystal: STR +2, 3, 5
• DEX Crystal: DEX +2, 3, 5
• Wisdom Crystal: INT +2, 3, 5
• LUK Crystal: LUK +2, 3, 5
• Secret Crystal: Level Requirement -1, -2, -3 (unused)

Production Stimulators, which were previously used to craft items through various item creator NPCs, could also be used to enhance the stats, but would also add a failure chance which could be lowered via the previously-unused Hands stat.

Players could complete a quest from Gordon to obtain Gordon's Magic Iron, which allowed for the crafting of Scroll for Cape for Cold Protection 10%. The release of the Temple of Time introduced Level 120 Reverse and Timeless Equipment into Maker, which were both among the best equipment at the time. Additionally, GlobalMS introduced the Android Set, a Level 70 Equipment Set which could be crafted with Iruvata Boosters obtained from special quests and themed after Iruvata from Neo Tokyo (and later Neo City).

Maker was available in all servers, but it was removed from the game as of the Chaos Update and replaced with Professions.
