Red Peony Secret Base was the tutorial area for Zen, an imperial temple where he lived with his father Zhi Jun and their assistant Suha. After a dark force takes over the Emperor of their homeland, Zhi Jun attempts to defeat him, but gets injured while attempting to protect Zen from the Emperor. As the Emperor takes over the island with an army of skeletons and terracotta soldiers, Zen and Suha are forced to escape on a boat to Victoria Island, where they eventually arrive at the Nautilus, aided by Kyrin.

The area, along with Zen, existed in ChinaMS, TaiwanMS, and MapleSEA. As of late 2020, support for Zen has been discontinued, and new Zen characters can no longer be created. However, existing Zen characters in ChinaMS and TaiwanMS were converted to the new class Mo Xuan. The Red Peony Secret Base was removed from the game as a result.
