Crusader Codex

The Crusader Codex, formerly known as the Monster Book, was a system that allowed players to collect cards dropped by monsters upon defeat.
The first iteration, known as the Monster Book, was originally available in all servers until the Big Bang Update. Most monsters would drop Monster Cards at varying rates, with higher level monsters dropping them less frequently. Picking up a card would register that monster in your book. You could collect up to 5 cards from a given monster, and each card would unlock the following:
- The monster's standing animation
- The monster's moving animation + HP and MP
- The monster's attack animations (if applicable) + episode (backstory / description)
- The monster's skill animations (if applicable) + a static list of drops
- The monster's death animation + location, as well as a one-time bonus for completing that monster (such as item drop rate in that particular monster's area or healing)
The second iteration, known as the Crusader Codex, was only available in JapanMS and GlobalMS. It came in the form of an equipment item given to every single character that granted +1 All Stats and could not be unequipped, sold, dropped, traded, or have Potential granted. Unlike the first iteration, only 1 card was needed to complete that monster's information, consisting of the monster's HP, MP, and a dynamic list of drops. The episode, location, and one-time bonus were no longer available, while the animations were visible by default regardless of whether you registered the Monster Card. The Crusader Codex also had Sets dedicated to various areas, and completing a set would give the Codex bonus stats that would apply to your character, though only one set's bonus could be used at a time. Your Codex would gain EXP for completing sets, which would increase the All Stats bonus as well as grant Medals at certain levels. Players could also keep track of their Familiars and store their Familiar Cards in the Crusader Codex.
The Monster Book was removed from all servers as of the Big Bang Update, while the Crusader Codex was removed from JapanMS and GlobalMS in 2020, being replaced with Roro the Familiar Manager. As of October 2025, many of the Monster Book's episodes were repurposed for the World Archive.
